SOURCE: Card Stock is Not Fed from the Bypass Tray

Check the inside of the printer, ensure that there is no paper or foreign object stuck, sometimes they go undetected and they can affect normal printer feeding.
Try pulling out the paper tray and check the paper feeding mechanics underneath the printer.
Usually feeding problems are mechanic, if you cannot fix them in this simple way you will need to take printer apart and check feeding traction mechanics, this is usually a job that is better done at a repair shop.

SOURCE: trying to print but it ask me to load paper or form feed. also got a bypass tray message.

the problem is in the printer settings of the file you are printing, if it is set to print from bypass tray. You can load paper into the bypass tray and it will fix it. If you have a Multi Function Product (MFP) commercial grade with multiple paper sources, this message may come up again. How to fix? In the file/documents properties (word, excell. PDF,etc.) go to the File menu OF THAT document and change the "paper set up/page settiings/paer source" from bypass TO Automatic or Auto Paper. Re save the file/document and it will save your new paper source settings. If someone sends you a file, or you upgraded to a bigger machine, this message may come up and you will have to make these cahnges due to the fact that the document was created with smaller product printer/page settings. The default auto paper on business MFP's is set for a tray, not a bypass tray.

Even though my printer settings are set to print and use the paper in tray 1 - the printer wants to pull from the bypass tray (which always pulls crooked). The printer used to work just fine then the alert...

Two things to check for a problem like this:
1) Driver Settings:
If your computer's drivers are telling the machine to pull from the bypass tray it'll ignore the machine settings. You're kind of on your own here figuring it out, if you can't though then try deleting the printer from the computer and re-installing it (will default settings)

2) Manual Feed sensor:
When you put paper into the bypass try you're activating a flag which tells a sensor there's paper there, if this flag is stuck forcing the sensor to constantly think you have paper there it would always to pull from there. Find the flag, move it back and forth, hit it with some air from a can of air.

I have an HP Photosmart A646 printer that I bought in the hopes of printing to 5x7 card stock. We have pre-printed card stock that we use for gift certificates and we need to be able to feed the card stock...

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

Depending on the program you are using to print your gift certificates, try this-

1) Open the program and open the file you use for your gift certificate.
2) Click on 'Layout' then 'Page Set Up' (probably found in the top menu bar by the right side of, FILE.)
3) Select 'Landscape' and then select, 'Custom'.
4) Enter 5x7 for height and width.
5) Enter the information you need in the data field, (ie, name address, etc.)
6) Select, Print.
7) When the 'Print Manager' box opens, click on, 'Properties'.
8) Click on, 'Type' and choose, "Envelope'.
9) Click on, 'Size' and choose 5x7. - and click, OK.

Your printer should have a slide where the paper is inserted. Place one of the 5x7 cards in the slot just as you would an envelope and slide the slider until it is 'close' to the card but not directly against the card.

Click, 'Print'. The printer should recognize the card (due to its thickness) as an envelope and print it.

My office has the bizhub c360, and when I put paper into the bypass tray, it prints from the main tray instead of the bypass tray. The settings on the printer are for bypass tray, the settings for my...

Hi the machine could be defaulted to print from the main trays if you have the same type paper being fed from the manual feed same size paper then it will automatically take it from the default trays
IF you take the paper out of the trays and put it only in the manual feed will it print and take it from the manual feed also you have to tell the machine when you use the manual feed what size and type of paper is in the manual feed once you tell it what paper and type of paper like card stock you then need to make sure when you go to print that it is set on your computer with manual feed and type of paper must match what is set on machine

Printing 5x7 card stock in HP 1510 injet all-in-one printer

You need to set up your printer preferences to accommodate the type and size of paper you wish to use, usually listed under printer/print or page set up.

Invariably, paper is loaded, butted to either left or right of the paper feed, but on the other side of the feed there should be a sliding stop which keeps your paper in place.

If feeding from the top feed, print side towards you, if printing from a tray at the bottom of the printer, print face down.

You can download a user manual from here once you've chosen your model printer:-

Printing on an index card

something else you might try is taping the card to a full-size sheet of paper, so the printer can push it through with ALL the rollers at the same time. not all printers have a roller all the way across, so index cards get snagged by one side, and they'll walk to the opposite side while they're printing.

Repeated paper jam in fuser

Fuser's orange roller is not meant to be wrinkled, if this is then I would recommend you replace it (just slides out) pic below
b4eead5.jpg If printing on card, you need to feed via manual bypass and exit from the back, not on the top, aka the "face up tray." Tray pulls out from rear. Rear tray will only stack a few card sheets at once.

Setting on printer's control panel must be set to card/heavy paper type on manual bypass tray

Their may still be some card in fuser causing jams.

Please rate as FIxya or post back,
Cheers
S. :-)
