Sony Explode 4 channel amp in protection mode

I am running a sony explode 4 channel amp with, two channels running sony explode 6x9 and the other two a kicker compvr 10 inch tube, the other 2 channels are being bridged, I had this set up with a boss amp for 3 years and worked fine, with the new sony amp it worked for a week and now when I turn on the radio, I hear a pop sound and the amp goes in protection mode, I tried moving the ground wire already and it didn't work.

Re: Sony Explode 4 channel amp in protection mode

Sometimes if the power cable and the ground cable are frayed and touch it will short out the amp temporarily check to make sure allof the wires aren't touching each other

3 subs in 2 box 1 1200 watt Sony explode amp

Most sony amps run at 4 ohms mono. There is no way possible to get your subs even close to that. you need to either remove a sub from the equation or get a 1ohm stable amp.

Amp xm-ZR604 keeps going into protect mode

check the ground and the positive wires to make sure that they are getting good continuity. if your amp is too small for the speakers you are pushing this will also put the amp into protect mode

I have a similar setup & I just run the second amp straight off the other amp by running positive & remote wires directly from 1 amps positive & remote inputs to the others amps inputs. But my head unit has RCA inputs, (sub in & front & rear inputs) so from my 4 channel amp I run 2 6 inch alpine S's to the front to the front RCA inputs of the head unit, & 2 Pioneer 440w 6x9 inch speakers to the rear inputs. & my 800w 12 inch sub from my 2 channel amp to the sub woofer inputs on the head unit. Has blown my eardrums for nearly 12 months now great stuff! Hope this has helped

How to hook it up to system with two 10s 400 watts per sub and two 6x9s at 200 watts each?,subs behind seats, 6x9s in doors. IF i need another amp i have one,to help push. But either way i need your help...

Hello www_mitzjohn,

I'd definitely use another amp.

The 2-channel Sony is well suited for powering the 6X9's but a monoblock would be better for the subs. The different types of speakers running from the same channel will not sound very good and likely it'll be impossible to get the impedances to match.

You'll want to set the Sony to send higher frequencies to the 6X9's, but not to the subs. You can't adjust the channels individually. So, just connect each 6X9 to one channel of the Sony and use a monoblock subwoofer amp for the subs.

Hope this helps.
