Hi there,
Depending on which type of phone you have;if you have one with a display you will see "Trans" on most Nortel phones with displays. It's only the M3902 which has a button either wriiten "Transfer" or dotted like a boomerang.
Hope this will help

When a call comes in and I transfer to my boss' extension, incoming calls do not come through, caller states phone keeps on ringing. Also on that same extension calls do not transfer to voice mail.

  • Begin the transfer. With the caller on the line, press the "Transfer" key. The caller will automatically be placed on hold and you will hear a dial tone.
  • Connect the caller to the other party. Dial the extension of the party you wish to reach. When you hear the extension ring or after you've announced the caller, complete the transfer by pressing "Transfer" a second time. If the person does not wish to receive the call, press "Release" to disconnect from the dialed extension. Press the key beside the flashing arrow on the LCD indicator where the various lines are displayed to return to the caller.
  • Cancel an incomplete transfer. If you make an error when dialing and need to retrieve the caller, simply press the key beside the flashing arrow on the LCD indicator.

  • Park an incoming call. Parking a call at a designated extension allows the recipient to answer the call from any phone in the facility. With the caller on the line, press the "Park" key twice. If your system designates a particular extension for parked calls, the caller will be held at that extension. Otherwise, the caller is held at your extension. To specify an extension for a parked call, press "Park," dial the desired extension and press "Park" a second time. Replace the handset.
  • Retrieve a parked call. On any system phone, press "Park" and dial the extension on which the call is parked. You will be connected to the caller.

Is there another way to know I have a voicemail without checking the lines periodically and listening for the beeps? Also when I transfer a call to another number it does not provide the callers ID on

These features are handled by the system, not by the phone. You need to ask you administrator to enable the message waiting indicator on your voice mail. When you transfer a call the incoming CLID flashes only for a brief second on the target display. I am not sure that can be changed - it depends on your Nortel hardware and OS version.

When I transfer a call from the front desk, the person's voicemail does not pick up, it transfers back to front desk.

Either the voicemail box isn't setup, the voicemail box isn't assigned to that extension, or that extension has forwarding setup that is incorrect. I have no experience with a Nortel phone system though so if you need specifics on how to get into those areas of your system to fix them you'll have to wait for another response.

To transfer a call on a m 7208 while talking to the caller press feature 70 then the number of the extension you want to transfer the call to. You can wait to speak to the co worker to tell them who's being transfered to them or just hang up. Either way when you hang up the call is transfered.

How do i transfer a call with my norte t7316e

There are 3 Flexible Feature buttons under the horizontal display. When you are on a call, the display will show "Transfer" over the last button. Press that button, which will automatically put the caller on hold, pick up an intercom and prompt you to enter the extension to transfer the caller to. Enter the ext. number and tell your employee who is on the call, and heng up - the caller will be connected automatically. Or, after dialing the ext. to transfer the caller to, just hang up and the call will ring through. Good Luck!

How do I transfer calls to someone else in the office using Norstar T7316 phone?

If your telephone doesn't have a transfer button programmed press feature *3, the button you want the transfer button to be, and enter feature 70. While on the call press the transfer button (or press feature 70) and the extension you want to transfer to.If you want a screened transfer, wait til the extension called answers, and ask if they wish to talk to the caller on the line. if they dont, pick up the caller off hold. if they want to talk to them hang up and they'll recieve the call. If you want to blind transfer, hang up after youpress transfer and dial the extension and they'll get the call without screening.

Relocating my extension.

The reason it doesn't transfer is because there is an extension plugged into the jack you are trying to transfer to. Unplug and do it again. If this is helpful, please post as such.

Call forwarding to outside line

To send a call to another telephone within your system, or to an external
telephone. You may not be able to transfer a call on an external line
to an external telephone, depending on the capabilities of the lines.
1. Make or answer a call.
2. Press the feature button then press 70.
3. Call the person you want to transfer the call to.
4. Stay on the line if you wish to speak to the person first.
5. Press the Release button to complete the transfer.
If an external call is transferred to a busy internal or network
extension, or is not answered after a few rings, the call automatically
rings you back.
