Question about HP Compaq Business nx7010 Notebook
I have either a power or motherboard problem.
When I press the power button nothing happens, either when connected to the AC adapter or only with battery. Sometimes there is a quick flash of the power light, but that's it.
If I keep plugging the power cable off and in all the time while keeping the power button pressed it may start, but it usually takes about 30 times.
Is it the motherboard? The laptop is about 5 years old. How much would the repair cost? Is it worth getting a new one?
If you can afford it a new laptop will be your best bet. They have really come down in price. I have a Compaq laptop that had the same problem. If I took the battery out and keep it unplugged for a few days it would boot up but only for about an hour then shut down and not reboot until I did the same thing. This has gone on for about a year. I even disassembled it , put in a new CMOS battery and the same. I was just about to give up on it and one day it just started working and has been for about a month now. I'm sure it is going to go back out but it will give me a chance to do some more testing on it. Hope this helps.
