Stopped printing and shows a job queue light.

It has stopped printing all of a sudden and shows a red light at the job queue sign which never switches off. it is located in a lab and about 20 Computers are connected to it and none can print. I cancelled all the jobs in all computers sent to that printer but still the printer cannot print and shows the red light.

Ben_ndee, if you press the "Go" button do you receive a secondary error light combination?
If this is the only combination you receive, the error is indicating a problem in the laser/scanner assembly.
Many times disconnecting and reconnecting the scanner will eliminate the error condition but there is a very good chance the laser/scanner assembly is faulty and needs to be replaced.
The part number is RM1-4262-000.

My printer is not printing

Without knowing any more, all I can do is take you through a tedious set of steps:
  1. Is it plugged in? Unplug the power cord at both ends, then plug it back in.
  2. Is it connected to your computer? Unplug the cord at both ends, then plug it back in.
  3. Is it turned on? Press the power button. Do any lights change (go on or off, change color, flash, etc.)?
  4. Send a print job to the printer. Does the printer show any signs of realizing it's been asked to print something (an indicator light or something moving inside)?
  5. Open the print queue. Delete all the jobs that are in there. Shut down the printer. Restart the computer. Turn the printer back on. Try printing.
  6. Are you getting error messages?
  7. What happened before it stopped working? Did you install new software? Move anything?

Has stopped printing has 3 jobs in queue

Hi There

HP often does this. You have to delete or cancel all the jobs in the queue, becausthe first job in the queue failed. Sometimes you gave to tell the computer many to cancel all jobs. Sometimes it is needed to restart your computer before the queue is empty. Only then will you be able to print again

When i try to print, the job is stopped and an error message appears and displays something like, "client error". even when i resume the job the message continues. I have unplugged the printer,...

is this a MAC? If so try this -
Delete and re-add the printer in the print queue:

- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.

If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System

Brother Mfc9840cdw (except for fax send) has been very good. During print job (2nd computer sent job during print from 1st computer), red light suddenly came on. everything stopped. No sign of a jam. No...

the machine is nearing service time.. Normally this is maintenance and resetting the print clock..

  • press both 3 and 9 buttons at the same time and hold
  • select each item 1 at a time and press ok
  • press 1 to reset it..
  • do this for each item in the list
  • repeat for each item.
