Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an acer aspire 5610 laptop. Some of the keys on the keyboard do different things to what the symbol on them represents: the @ symbol looks like its near the 'enter' key, but i have to hold down 'shift 2' to get it, if i hold down 'shift @' on they board i get this symbol - " - which is on '2' on the keyboard....is this making sense? I'm in england and have the british pound currency symbol on the keyboard on one of the number keys, but when i try to type it it comes out as the hash symbol and i cannot type the pound currency symbol, theres a few others things that are the wrog way around. is this some set up problem? i've been into the control panel keyboard options, but with no luck. any ideas?

You have your keyboard set as US. If you go into control panel, open Regional and Language options and change all of the settings with a country to UK. That will solve your problem.

I lost my question mark -- what do I press to get it back

Press your FN key.
If you look at your Keyboard on a laptop you'll see that certain keys have more than 1 symbol on them.
The FN key brings these secondary symbols to life as live keys and pressing it again will restore original function to the keyboard.

Acer Aspire 5050 - The wireless connection is turned off but there is no button to switch it on, can you tell me how to do it please? Thanks

Well There must be a switch on it. If You are pretty sure about this that its not there.
Than you can do one thing Look on the keyboard and observe the keys carefully you will find an icon on the keyboard look like an antena symbol look below:964e9d5.jpg
Or Somewhat change on this icon. The default key on most keyboards is F2 or sometimes you need to hold down the Fn Key and they press the F2 Key

I just need to know how to use the diacritic/accent mark key on my Aspire 5610 keyboard.

Hi,

I'll be glad to help you out with this. Assuming you have XP, you have 2 choices. Either use the Character Map, or an ALT code.

To access the character map, click

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map

An ALT code is simply when you hold down the ALT key and press a series of numbers on the keypad to get different symbols. Here's a list of ALT Codes:

Hope this helped :)

I have an Acer Aspire 5610 notebook and the keypad will not work at all after taking it off and cleaning--An external keyboard works--Do I just need to replace the keyboard or is it something else

Hello!

The keypad at the new laptops are very sensytive, and you need a another keyboard, because it is so hard for fix.
Or you can look , if you are untouch a keyboard from laptop, is it flat cable from keyboard on right place.

I just bought an Acer laptop andkeys are all different from desktop keyboard so wondering how I can find out what the keys are for without just hittin all of them. Are there specs available? Thankyou. Dee...

The symbols on the keys represent what will appear on screen

If the symbol is in blue that means you have to press the FN key over on the left side bottom row

Other symbols from the keyboard are typed by using the shift key

You can always buy a keyboard and plug it into the laptop if it proves to difficult

Where can I get laptop key?

Ebay is the best place, or a small computer shop that sells used laptops. On Ebay there are several vendors that sell individual keys, however, you may be able to get a good deal on an entire keyboard, then you will have many keys for future mishaps.

If u check your keyboard you'll notice there's a button marked 'fn' , might be in a different color, now if you look good you'll notice a little star object usually on the left and right arrow key,now to use this additional function u need to press and hold the 'fn' button then to adjust the brightness press the right arrow key until seem fit or the left to adjust.
