Question about Computers & Internet

I would like 2 ports to be open so that I am able to play a playstation game online without the game freezing. These 2 ports that the firewall seems to be blocking are as follows: - UDP 3658 (P2P) - TCP 6000 (VOIP)

I believe does to port is open in your router for voip and p2p no need to open it its already open for both service.you need to add port range that your using for your playstation and add the port range under port triggering. you can ask your vendor for the port range that you need to open on you firewall or router

Yes, you have to search for the TCP and UDP port numbers and open them in the router config not forgeting to bind them to your LAN ip address.

I am unable to play online games because they are blocked

1.) Talk with primary computer user. Whoever setup the computer firewall. Ask them for help. If it was you, then the Antivirus or Firewall software you are using is blocking the games.
2.) Call the Online Gaming Company let them know that you cannot get to their site. The have undoubtedly encountered your exact problem before. and they want you to use their site so they will be eager to help.
3.) If unsolved, check with gaming company to seef if any ports need to be open, or settings enable to make their site work. Call tech support for your Antivirus and/or Firewall company and they can help you very easily (they know their software better than anyone) to give you access to gaming site.

Well, i was playing World of Warcraft today, and randomly everything started lagging pretty hard, so i restarted my cpu, and now i can't even been on for 5 minutes without the computer freezing up...

if you keep reset on to your CPU this will affect to your Hard Drive. When your online games WOW very lag then do not let that online game on play to your Computer. You know or maybe your Computer are not enough to run this game. Check all the plug in play device which are capable to run this game. Your VGA Compatibility e.i AGP or PCI-E, Memory speed e.i DD1, DD2 & DDR3 and mostly Games Accelerator Programs.
Hope this tip might help you.
Good luck!

In counter strike v1.6 online game i cant find servers list and in message it says no online games pass through filter settings

This is typically due to firewall settings on your machine and or router. If you are trying to play online over the internet make sure you have appropriate ports allowed through any firewalls you may have to the computer you are trying to play the game on.

Trying to dowload updates from online game and need to open certain ports to make it possible for downloads to occur. did this before but had to restore drive and all that info was lost

This is usually done via your Firewall.
For detailed instructions using Windows XP version, see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778(VS.85).aspx

If you are using a different firewall you need to look up the instructions/help files for something similar

Cant play online games with my Gateway® M-6864 FX Black w/ Orange Accent. can still get on the internet but cant play online games.

Hi Bob,

If you are having issue playing online games but able to surf the internet, It means that the Firewall is not allowing you to play online games. Normally this is cause by a Firewall protection. As of now, DSL modems has Firewall features and you can manage them if you know so. But if you don't, contact your Internet provider to resolve this issue.
