Bright lime green screen with horizontal lines

The DVD player was broken when I got this tv. I ordered and replaced the DVD player, now when turned on all I get is a bright lime green screen with horizontal lines through it. I have taken it apart three times and inspected everything that I touched and it all looks good. Any suggestions would be greatly apprciated. Thanks

SOURCE: Top of screen is stretched

There are capacitors in the vertical circuit that can cause this problem. You may be able to find these capacitors by using a hair dryer pointed to the suspected bad cap and then when the problem happens you can spry a little cooling spray on it to see if the problem clears up. The vertical output IC could be going bad but this can be checked the same way. if you have no TV solid state repair experience, play it safe and take this set into a local repair depot. Good Luck

SOURCE: horizontal line

Your symptoms suggest that your vertical Ic401 has failed. In your Tv that Ic is a LA78040N-E Toshiba p/n# AE002783. Also it would be wise to test the feeder caps in that circuit, especially anything in the 100uf range.
This is not an expensive repair for a qualified shop. The Ic is under $20.00 dollars and caps are a buck or two - the labor will be your most expensive element of the repair and it shouldn't take an hour start to finish..
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: BASE tv/dvd combo- not toshiba but it looks like this model

I have the same problem with my Tv too. There is No phone listing and the number given on the warrant policy is no longer connected. I rang Target and Base is their own brand. If anyone needs it the contact number for Target head office is 1800 814 788.

SOURCE: Tv Screen Turns blue occassionally while running Toshiba DVD player

If the flashing is regardless of source, the CRT could be at fault. H to K short. ( heater to cathode)

Hi I have a problem my tv has a line across the middle of the screen from side to side can you help me with this problem?

If it is a bright line and there is nothing above or below the line, the TV has failed with a lack of vertical drive. This could be a transistor, a chip or the deflection coil. If the TV is more than a few years old, it will be cheaperr to replace it than to repair it.

Green line in middle of tv when switched on

Is there a picture with the green line going through the centre. If it`s just a green line with no picture, it sounds like the Frame (Vertical scan) Output IC has failed and possibly the safety feed resistor near the LOPTX. The reason why it`s a green line is to protect the tube from phosphor damage. The older TV`s would produce a VERY bright white line across the screen which could burn the phosphors withing the tube if left turned on in that condition. It`s not an expensive repair, but is it worth it with the price of Modern TV`s nowadays. If there is a picture with a green line, it may be due to phosphor damage, in which case, it`s a new CRT (tube). Ian

Jumping horizontal lines when connected to CD player

Hello, I want you to do a test first. Take you TV and connect a DVD player to it and see if this problem occurs. I bet you it wont, because the problem is not with the TV nor the CD of the karaoke machine. The problem is with the sync pulses of the signal from the karaoky, and the inability of the Tv to sync-up with those signals. What I would use is a video stabilizer between the TV and the DVD player. If the TV still has the problem with the DVD player I would then check the TV for a vertical section problem. I hope this helps, Thank you, Shuttle83

Only has a line through center of screen

Problem started as a simple cold solder joint. Now the connection has either burnt to the point of not making any connection at all, or the vertical output has gone out due to the stress. As far as the dvd player goes. Sounds like the microprocessor is heating up and going bad. Nothing can be done other than replacing the whole unit.Should be able to order it from Toshiba.

When turned on only gets a straight line of color in middle of screen

You lost your vertical sweep. most likely the vertical output IC or a power supply source is the problem.
