Wobbles My buddy has a bmw r 1100 and he just got the front tire changed. He said that when he hits between 90 and 100 MPH his bike wobbles. Anybody know what this could be? maybe he is going to fast for what the bike can handle or his tire wasn't balance right?

Most probably the balance, as Tina said. Could also be that they didn't fit the wheel correctly and it's running slightly on either the left or right side of the tire - let's call it the "vertical alignment" that is out. He must take it back to the dealer and ask him very politely (with a tire-iron if necessary LOL) to fix it properly.

They didn't balance the front wheel quite correctly, and I hope to God your friend is achieving those speeds at the track and not on public roads.

Put a 90/90 21inch, I had a front end replaced and the front tire was a 100, which has a smaller profile . Don't stand as tall and is smaller, put 90/90x 21 and balance wheel/tire, problem gone for me !

I have a 1996 ST1100 non ABS with a front end wobble. It seems to have started when I switched from bias ply tires to radial tires. However in the mean time I went ahead and had the steering stem bearings...

problems like this are best discussed with an accredited bike shop who has experience with wheel wobbles
you have changed the front tire to radial but did you change the back tire at the same time as radials and cross ply ( bias ply) tires have different handling characteristics
the wobble may be like a lack of compatibility between case constructions and I am thinking this because you say that the problem goes when changing back to the bias ply

I have a hi speed front end wobble And just put a new front balanced tire and it still wobbles..

Did you line up the dot on tire with the valve stem ? if not break tire down and line up bal dot and re bal. If it is taking alot of weight try relocating tire on wheel until you find a better bal position that dont require alot of weight.
I have had new tires cause wobble , spin tire on bike and check for wobble in new tire.

Wobbly steering wheel , started yesterday, no big hits or potholes , or no bigger than normal. tires haves some tread but all 4 need to be replaced. is it an alignment issue or something more costly?

If it wobbles at higher speeds like 55-60 mph or so probabley just worn and out of balance tires,If it wobbles at like 25-30mph or so at a lower speed it probabley mean you have a tire seperating and it could blow out at anytime and you would definitely need new tires,at least more than likely the front two.

Fxdwg wobbles at 75+mph

I was reading about a fix for this in IronWorks magazine just recently. I thinking January or February issue. If I remember right I think they actually said it is a kit with a stabilizer. I'll see if I can find the right one and follow up. they post the past issues on their website but I think you have to subscribe to the magazine to access the website. I love the magazine!! I have gotten lots of ideas and helpful information for my old shovelhead.

yes make sure your lug nuts are all tight and the wheels are seated properly on the hubs, if they are tight bring the car to a tire shop and have them balance the two front tires, this will tell you if you have a bent wheel please rate -jeff
