The majority of these PCs have a recovery partition on the internal hard drive, here is the instructions for using it.
Recovering information using Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE)
Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) can perform a recovery from either an optional external hard
drive or from recovery discs.
CAUTION: Using Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) will completely erase hard drive contents
and reformat the hard drive. All files you have created and any software installed on the computer will
be permanently removed. When reformatting is complete, the recovery process will restore the operating
system, as well as the drivers, software, and utilities from the backup used for recovery.
To initiate recovery using WinRE, follow these steps:
NOTE: This process will take several minutes.
1. If possible, back up all personal files.
2. Restart the computer, and then press f8 before the Windows operating system loads.
3. Select Repair your computer.
NOTE: The "Repair your computer" option is displayed only if the WinRE partition is intact. If the
option is not displayed, refer to “Recovering information using a Windows Vista operating system
DVD (purchased separately).”
4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
5. Click Next.
6. Select your user name, type your password (if applicable), and then click OK.
7. If you are using recovery discs, insert the last disc of the recovery disc backup set.
NOTE: Inserting the last disc of the backup set confirms the presence of a valid backup. If you
insert any other disc, the backup will not be recognized.
– or –
If you are using an optional external hard drive, connect it to the computer.
8. Click Windows Complete PC Restore.
9. Follow the on-screen instructions.

this is getting long , so ill will post more steps in comment.....

otherwise the LAST way to recover is to buy a windows xp or vista disk and install, then go to the HP wecsite and download and install the drivers for your hardware, but try these two steps initially as they will save you some time and money if the origianl software is on the recovery partition of your internal harddrive.

    Recovering information using Recovery Manager

If other methods do not work, you can recover your hard drive (in its factory state) as a last resort:

    CAUTION:
Using Recovery Manager will completely erase hard drive contents and reformat the hard

drive. All files you have created and any software installed on the computer will be permanently removed.

Recovery Manager reinstalls the operating system and HP programs and drivers that were installed at

the factory. Software not installed at the factory must be reinstalled.

    1.
If possible, back up all personal files.

    2.
Restart the computer, and then press f8 before the Windows operating system loads.

    3.
    Select Repair your computer.

    NOTE:
The "Repair your computer" option is displayed only if the WinRE partition is intact. If the

option is not displayed, refer to “Recovering information using a Windows Vista operating system

    DVD (purchased separately).”

    4.
    Follow the on-screen instructions.

    5.
    Click Next.

    6.
Select your user name, type your password (if applicable), and then click OK.

    7.
    Click HP Recovery Manager.

    8.
    Follow the on-screen instruction

I recently purchased a 19"

Your computer graphics, whether onboard or graphics card does not support this resolution.

I think it is a driver problem, click here to download and install the latest drivers.

Fill in the details and select search then download and install.
You may need to purchase a more powerful graphics card.

Hi my HP failed to restore factory settings and now will not start, an error page come up at the begining "windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might be to cause". it...

Try booting into safe mode. press F8 immediatly after the logo screen disapears when you start up your computer. see if you can get in that way. if you are able to get in try using a restore point. sometimes this is caused by software that requires making system changes such as office when it creates the "one note printer option" you can try using "msconfig" from the start>accesories>run then typing msconfig then hit enter. under general tab select " selective start up and uncheck everything but "use original boot configuration. then under boot tab uncheck everything. reboot and see if you can get in. otherwise you are going to have to contact HP. if you have changed or upgraded the video or sound card this might happen as what the factory restore actually does is completly erase, format and copy (not install) a pre-installed windows installation from an image located on a recover partition. if you have infact replaced or upgraded anything ( other than Hard drive this will not cause your problem) remove them and do restore again. then after successful factory reset reinstall one, install drivers, reboot make sure works then install other, rinse and repeat.

Did they replace the fan, or did they replace the computer?

> they told me to contact HP for further repairs.

Did you do so? If so, how did HP respond?

The purchase of the computer includes a one-year warranty,
i.e., HP will fix anything that fails, within one-year of purchase,
at *THEIR* cost.

No. If your movie was downloaded from the internet the resolution of the film can not be improved. However you can improve the movie reproduction on your system (skip) adding more memory to your system.

I bought a new HP 2133 mini note pc which has Windows Vista on it. I have been trying to download the avgfree 8.0 antivirus program. It keeps telling me that one error is occuring. It says Action failed...

Try this link to download it...

http://free.avg.com/ww.download?prd=afe

This maybe the same link you have already tried. If it is, just do a google search for AVG free, it's available from several other places.

You also need to download a patch for Vista and AVG to work together, if you go to this link ...

http://www.avg.co.uk/uk.faq.num-1066#faq_1066

You can download the patch from microsoft via AVG website, you need to select FAQ number 1177 then choose the download according to your OS ie 32bit or 64bit.

Hope this helps.
