My dell 966 won't print documents--put new cartridge in but contiues to say color ink is low but prints test page with no problem

This sounds like it may be as simple as correcting communication problems between the printer and the computer.

Remove the USB cable from your printer and your computer. Reconnect the USB cable to your printer and your computer.

Turn off the printer. Unplug the printer power cable from the electrical outlet and let rest for a few mnutes. Reconnect the printer power cable into the electrical outlet, and turn on the printer.

Restart your computer.

This may resolve the problem.

My printer and computer are not communicating at

If the software is installed for the printer, there is only two things you can do.

Plug a USB device that's already working into that port. If it's working, It'll install the driver.

If it's not working, try another port. Change your USB cable to another one. Also, in the BIOS, set the USB port to high speed.

With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs

(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
