Psion series 3a

hi, went to turn on my machine last night to solve a X word poser and the screen was full of vertical black lines, assuming batteries had failed, i went onto mains with the supplied psion adapter, pressed reset witha paper clip and now i have no screen? (wonders if I had forgotten to close application previously with ( Psion )(x)

just after reset, i had lots of feint boxes up. like data (i think).
since turning off and back on with mains light lit, i now have no picture and if i press the reset, the machine alarms and thats it,
can you help?
