Try using a different RAM Module, maybe the RAM you installed is incompatible. Put the original RAM and look if the system start as usual.
After a RAM upgrade, it isn't neccessary to reinstall anything, the OS will detect the new RAM and will make it usable. No drivers, no recovery, nothing else is needed.
If the system fails to start after the upgrade, there is a problem with the new RAM module installed or possibly a latency conflict with the module that came with the PC and the new one.

NTLDR missing on XP desktop

NTLDR is the boot loader for windows XP. This is the part the kick starts the entire process of XP loading. It is located at C:\NTLDR One of the easier ways to fix this is Either boot in to the recover console from a Windows XP disc, or download Hiren Boot CD, burn it to a disc. Insert the CD into your Dell and reboot the computer. Note you may need to enter BIOS and enable boot to CD/DVD. Once at the Hiren menu, select Boot Mini XP. Once the Mini XP loads you can copy NTLDR loader from the mini xp to your C:\ drive. Then remove the disc and reboot the computer.

My compaq presario CQ61 crashed. Have tried recovery but everything has failed. I have got as far as installing window files but it now is asking for the installation disc - I have not got one

You tried recover and it failed, and now you are trying to reinstall windows but you don't have system disc. Hmmm, have you tried rebooting and going into safe mode. Just curious, but you've probably wiped out your operating system by now doing the two things that failed.

You're going to need an operating system disc to get you out of this.

How do I reboot my ASUS EEE PC 701SD 7" 0.9 GHz

To start the systemrecovery:
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. When the Computer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
  3. If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
  4. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available orfails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. 2. When the computer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
  3. Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
  4. Close the CD-ROM tray.
  5. Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
  6. The computer will boot from the Recovery Media
  7. When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.
Note: Ifthere are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.
  1. After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.

Restore

These HPs typically have a partition permitting restoration to a condition of the factory defaults via F10 on rebooting the computer. I would certainly have tried system restore before any destruction return to factory defaults. If you can boot the computer from a USB stick (changing the boot sequence via F1 setup), and have it load in a Linux OS, you can recover some of your data files. PC User June 2011 offered such on its disc. Doubtlessly, an update of the technique is elsewhere available. You will want to update service packs after a restore, very likely.

Acer3690 windows vista wont start back up

If Vista came installed on the computer originally you should be able to just run a system recovery (either from the had drive or from recovery discs made after buying the computer). When turning on the computer press Alt+F10 to start the recovery process. If you get a loading bar with "Loading Windows Files" above it then you're on the right track. It will allow you to reinstall windows Vista and will also install all the drivers you need.

If you can't get the Alt+F10 to work and don't have the recovery discs then you will either need to contact Acer and get a sent shipped to you, or find someone with a set of OEM discs that can reinstall it for you.

Hope that helps :)

Having trouble with HP ..Windows XP

I suggest that :
  1. Press F8, choose command line (if you know) and backup any file that you need (copy to an external drive, pen drive, cd or other medium). Please skip this step if you allready have updated backups.
  2. you restore the windows XP with the original cd / dvd, and choose format disk.
  3. remove the cd / dvd when asked for reboot
  4. Restore your data files and update the operation system with Microsoft update.
Hope that helps. Please inform what hp model you have for further help.

Cheers,

Pedro
