Question about ASUS K8N-LR Motherboard
I think I may have broke my Asus K8N-754 motherboard but Ijust want to be sure that its broken before I start shopping for a new one.
I was installing a 2 new SATA hard drives ( 1 TB and a 500 GB) and another gigof ram (I already have 2 one gig ram sticks in there, Also I know the have tobe duel sided to work with this motherboard.) I plugged every thing in and pressed power. And the first time I got a bios screen the came up and stayed there. So I was like "ok its having a hard time with these new hard drives and it's not sure what to boot either the IDE or the SATA". So I removed the connections of the SATA hard drives and tried to boot it up with the good old IDE based hard drives that have worked loyally for me for years. And then when it booted it pretty much went a step up on the problem o meter then at that point mother board turned on but it wasn't sending and receiving at all it was like the fan on the power supply was running the mouse and other accessories were turning on and getting power but the screen was staying blank (you know that orange light on your monitor when its idle) So I was like Ok this must be a ram or video card problem since the video card has preformed great for a few months now lets try the ram. Pulled the new ram sticks and still the boot was not taking. So I went over to a friends house and we tested the power supply(works) each stick of ram (works) the video card (works) and pretty much were left with the grim realization that I think some where in this upgrade process I might have broke my mother board. I mean I'm ok with that the old girl served me well and it was getting due for a replacement but I just want to run it by every one and see if any one had any ideas before I go full boar into new mother board shopping.
Thanks a lot for the help
