No boot No fan noise no display but lights come on

Toshiba Satellite A55-S326. All the lights come on in the front when AC adapter is connected as well as the battery light and the power light when I hit the power button. After that I dont hear the fan kick on or any boot activity, no picture or any display on the screen.

I thought if the motherboard went bad then it wouldnt get power and the lights wouldnt light up?

  • wayfastwhite Nov 21, 2008

So when I take it apart will I see it at all where it shorted out the board or will it be just time to buy a new board for it?

Somethings has happened to your motherboard, CPU and/or hard drive somewhere along the line if it wont power up when you hit the power button and this would explain the reason for no activity. When a motherboard fails, no activity will happen at all, so Im putting my money on your motherboard being defect so take it in for a service and you may have to buy a new laptop since repairs can be costly.

Well Power may go thorough your laptop enough to power lights, but not enough to start your CPU, Hard Drive or simply the fan So you do have a problem with the adapter on your motherboard and it does need checking immediately. Somewhere, it has short circuited your board and has caused faults with most of your components, including CPU and Hard Drive

You can but it sometimes isn't as obvious as a black patch so i would suggest a whole new motherboard for your system would be your best bet

My toshiba laptop satellite A55-S326 wont boot. Only can use the escape key then go into bios but still doesn't boot. Tried my recovery disc & it goes thru the instal but then still goes to a blank...

Your install discs are bad. Please don't shoot the messenger. Call Toshiba for new discs. Here is the number (it took me 30 minutes to find this. Please give me a 4-thumbs-up rating. If you don't, I spent time away from family for free).

I can't boot my CD XP,boot to other devices too.. can u help me?

You can select an alternate boot device by pressing F10 or F12 as the Toshiba is booting up. You will get a list of boot devices, move the left or right arrow to select the device you want to boot.
OR
Go into the BIOS configuration and change the boot order of the devices your want to boot up with.

My toshiba sattellite a55-s326 has a flashing yellow light but won't power up.

Hello,

You may try this; Turn OFF the laptop, remove the power sources (ac adapter and battery). Without power sources, hold power button 10 secs. Put back the power sources, and power ON the NB. If the laptop will not boot by doing this, take it to the nearest repair center to have it check for possible motherboard issue.

Hope this works

Sounds like you have snapped the centre connector in the laptop. If you look at the AC connector on the laptop there should b a "pin" in the centre. These frequently snap off, symtoms are :
Battery will not charge
Will not turn on from AC supply.

There are some firm which will replace the ac jack for you but it will cost.
Interent search .. replace DC jack on toshiba
