I took my Omron unit to the GP and he measured one arm while the Omron measured the other. Then I knew it was accurate.

User manual for equaline digital blood pressure monitor model BA-717A

No, it is not able to be calibrated by the user. If your arm is too large for the cuff it will read high. Most cuffs are made for small framed people. Try wrapping it around your lower arm and position it about 2-3 inches above the wrist. use the wrist to take the b.p.

How to calibrate omega 1445 bp monitor

My first question is how do you know it's not accurate? I would tee in a digital manometer (measure in mmHg), wrap the cuff around a glass bottle and let the cuff inflate. When it fully inflates the cuff...look at the readings between the monitor and your manometer. If they are within a few digits of one another, I would leave it alone.

Inaccuracies with patient nibp readings are usually related to improper cuff placement on the patient. There's usually a mark on the cuff to indicate where the cuff should be placed in relation to the brachial artery. I believe this unit utilizes oscillatory technology to determine readings and an improperly placed cuff can create inaccurate readings.

My wrist cuff monitor seems to be reading low. Is there a way to get it checked or calibrated?

The next time you go to your doctor, take the wrist cuff monitor with you. As they always do, the nurse or doctor will check you vital signs. After they do that and they've told you what your blood pressure and pulse readings are, correctly place the cuff monitor on your wrist and check you BP and Pulse with it. Compare the reading from the cuff monitor to what your doctor got. If it's within a few points, it's no big deal. If it's way off, than there's a problem with the cuff.

Remember, whenever using a cuff monitor, always keep your wrist at heart level for the most accurate reading. Once it's activated, remain completely still and don't move your wrist, until it has finished cycling.

The dial reads around 300 when the cuff is uninflated. How do I calibrate the dial?

If the dial reads 300 when the cuff is not inflated, the dial is stuck and there's no way to calibrate it. Try taping on the glass of the dial with your finger to see if it will move. If it doesn't there's really not much you can do yourself, except contact the manufacturer for repair of replacement.
