there is nothing wrong with your screen, the problem is from the flex that connects your screen to the phone's main board. This flex must have worn out that's why your screen is not displaying any picture.
The problem is common with flip and slide phones. The flex gets worn out as a result of constant opening and close of the flip or slide phone.
I would urge you to replace the flex and I am assuring you that your screen will display picture again. You might also be lucky to find out that the flex is not well fix, that is, it may have loosed contact.
If you cannot change the flex yourself, maybe you should take the phone to a local repairer within your vicinity, so that the flex can be fixed/replaced.
Ah, I am a former tracfone customer, and the v170 phone was my first model. :) . Unfortunately no, because all of tracfone's phone models use a different sim card, even if you attempted to replace the sim card with an identical phone it would not work, the phone simply reads, UNREGISTERED SIM CARD. Its tracfone's way of making money, so unfortunately you'll have to put in your contacts all by hand :( which is a major pain in the rear.
My daughters phone had the same problem. It turned out that my very magnetic purse (which I had put her phone in) messed it up. I took the phone and reran it over the battery vertically and horizontally and it started to work instantly. I guess the phones are very sensitive to magnets (purses, money clips, phone cases/holster holders) so be careful. Hope this helps!!!
You will have send it for service. Sometimes the ribbon cables go bad inside, and require replacement. These phones are modular, and many times, they have to replace some circuit boards to do the fixes.
If the phone is under warranty, and it has not been dropped, and it has not been in any liquid exposure, there should be no charge to service it.
