Question about LG RC797T

1 Answer

No audio..... I have a LG RC797t. When I play a dvd the sound is heard through my tv. If I play a vcr tape there is a faint humming noise, when I play through the tuner there is no sound. All have video w/no problems. I have hooked it up via S Video, Components and HDMI, all w/the same results. Is the audio cooked? Can I get this fixed? Can I fix it myself? How much? Any suggestions. I have spent hours trying to figure this thing out. Thanks!!

I have an LG RC797T. I cannot play a vcr tape because it gets stuck in the machine. Can I connect another vcr player to the LG and record to a DVD?

Yes, you can connect another VCR to the LG's video & audio input jacks and record from the external VCR. You may have to select the line input from the menu to activate these inputs.

I have Dish Network and I can't find a Code for my LG RC797T so I can get it to play

I'm assuming you are referring to using the dish network remote to control your DVD/VCR unit. Use the instructions in your Dish Network manual, mine is on page 61, "Setting up using device code tables". Refer to the table of device codes in the back of the dish manual, pg 119, to look up your manufacturer. I used the DVD codes for LG as LG wasn't listed on DVD/VCR combo codes. Try each one until one works. I have the LG RC797T and the third code worked 824. Good luck!

Audio Problems playing VHS tapes with Denon AVR 1910

Did it EVER work as expected with VCR audio through the HDMI or are we working through that right now assuming it can?

I don't have a detailed manual, but the rear panel clearly shows some analog-only outputs (and NO digital ones) for the section called DVD/VCR. Internally, I'm sure there are proper analog-digital-converters for recording VHS to the native DVD-R, but VHS VCR's are NOT inherently digital audio devices so I'm pretty sure you need to run an analog RCA pair for the VHS video.

Clicking sounds when playing VHS tapes

On one hand I would say not to be concerned about the clicking since nothing seems to be affected. However, if the noise is loud enough to be a bother, or for your own peace of mind, consider returning it to the retailer for exchange if you still have that option. I've heard clicking sounds from other VCRs because of some of the moving parts and it's been nothing to worry about. But I'm not familiar with the guts of your model, so I can't say it's not a sign of some problem that might get worse over time. It's your call. Not really a "solution" I know, but without opening it up for myself and looking for the source of the noise it's the best I can offer.

No sound when the tv is on and the mute is turned off

I still am unclear as to your hook up but lets try this, if you have your DVD/VCR plugged into the TV audio and video and a audio cord from the tv monitor out to an input on the reciever, this way you should hear the sound at the tv and reciever.
However if you have your DVD/VCR plugged into the reciever first audio and video connections made at the reciever you should just have a video cord fromthe monitor out of the reciever to the tv and your audio will come from the reciever

Reverse your idea. Hook the DVD to the VCR. You have to put the VCR in video mode to play the DVD.
