Question about Fuji FinePix F401 Digital Camera
I took about 300 photos on the 256Mb XD card which left space for 14 more shots. On returning from holiday I put the card back in the camera and the LCD screen says 'No images' when in photo view mode. The strange thing is that if you then select 'shooting' mode it says there is space for 14 shots. Surely if the screen says there is space for only 14 on a 256Mb card there must be the remaining 300 images still in there, somewhere !!! Now, this may be just coincidence, but throughout this holiday the 3 blue LED lights on the front slide swith of the camera did not work. They should illuminate during battery recharging & timer mode. However the battery does recharge OK. Does anyoue have any ideas please what I can try. Thank you, Vinnie.
I have a blue LED problem too....One day the F401 was in its cradle with lights working all right. Next day they were not working. I tried removing and replacing the battery, I also borrowed a cradle, usb cable and mains adapter - but still no LEDS. However, the images upload to the PC as usual, the self timer works, the camera continues to take perfectly good pictures and, as far as I know, the battery is being charged. Any advice/comment will be appreciated if it helps to overcome this problem.
Incidentally, this latest malfunction is a bit annoying since the camera has already had a major CCD fault. I appreciate that digital cameras rely on microelectronics, but it does seem a bit 'throw-away' when you are told by the Fuji technical people that the cost of a possible repair is more than the current worth of the camera.
I have two conventional SLR (Konica TC Autoreflex and a Nikon 601S) both of whcih are working perfectly despite being 27 and 9 years old respectively. So much for progress, eh?!

Tips for a great answer:
lens retracts fully into the body and is protected by an automatic metal cover - no more lost or dangling lens caps.
The F410 Zoom makes use of the new xD-Picture Card media that is smaller than a postage stamp. Fuji supplies a 16MB card and they are available now up to 256MB. The F410 is powered by a small proprietary lithium rechargeable battery. This battery pack performed well in our use and if the color LCD is used sparingly, I see no problem with the battery delivering enough power for a conservative day's use. As with any camera that uses a proprietary battery pack, it is always a good idea to purchase and carry a charged spare at all times. The included power supply / charger is an auto switch type and operates on 100-240V AC which is convenient when traveling. It charges the battery in 3 hours (or less) while in the camera and also functions as an AC power supply for extended use at home. The battery is also charged any time the camera is placed in the optional camera dock.
