Question about RCA HD50LPW175 50" HDTV

Open Question

RCA Scenium DLP wont turn on, light comes on after I plug it in

As soon as I plug in my RCA DLP Scenium HD50LPW164, the power light comes on and won't turn off.

Acording to the user manual...
"When you first plug your TV into an outlet, the Power indicator on thefront panel will light and blink for approximately 30 seconds and then go off during the initialization of the TV. The TV can only beturned on after the Power indicator goes off. This happens every time power is reapplied to the TV."

It seems that the system never finishes its power initializationsequence. The only noise I hear is the fan spinning. I'm thinking maybea fuse or bad power supply? or perhaps a bad ballast? Is theresomething I can do to test these components before I blindly buyreplacement parts?

I have the same problem. It was happening about 6 months ago and I thought it was the lamp. I haven't used it, but just bought and installed a new lamp and same problem. Worked for 20 minutes. Turned off the TV and back on and nothing. When I unplug and replug I hear a power sound and the power light goes on. Anyone had this fixed and know the cost? Is it worth it? I can't return the lamp now since it's been used (for 20 minutes). I did get the lamp for an excellent price on Ebay and it worked great for the 20 mins.

I have a 61"DLP rca projection... replaced the color wheel cause initially it was just a loud screeching noise... then got sound but no picture.. bought a new lamp bulb... now turn on and same thing.. seems like the initialization period never stops... light goes on fan turns light blinks like 5x and then fan stops and light goes solid again...heard maybe ballast, or power supply and or capacitors? would love a way to test it without just dumping anymore money into this thing! thanks for any help in advance!

SOURCE: how can i check my lamp ballast in a rca scenium

are you sure when you replaced the lamp you seated it correctly, no really hapens all the time so dont feel bad. also another common error is the lanp door is not seated or closed and locked properly that is the most common problem that happens after a lamp is replaced, or the new lamp is bad never throw out your old one as somr dealers will give you what they call a core refund , they reuse the case around the old lamp. some can be worth as much as 50 to 60 bucks!!!

SOURCE: I have an RCA Scenium HD DLP 50" TV Rear

What is the Model Number that is printed on back of TV?
You say TV is DLP ,but you are posting Model# HD52W59 that is for Projection that has 3 Tubes Red/Green/Blue Tubes.
If TV is DLP then problem will be the Color Wheel
If it is Projection then it has a coil on the deflection board that either needs to be replaced or
resolder ciol and take a Glue gun and glue over the top of coil. Coil LL037 on the right handside of the FBT flyback transfomer.

That's usually caused by a bad lamp. However that chassis is famous for having bad caps on the power board. The repair kit is available at the following link and has repair instructions included. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/product_info.php/pName/rca-atc336-dlp-power-board-repair-kit/cName/repair-kits

The motor is nothing more than a harddrive motor, not sure that was the right solution but.... I would suggest that your chassis is not in the right location. Verify that the chasis is centered on the mounting bosses. The screws might be a good clue. Good luck.

Usually that is an indication of a bad lamp. A lamp can be ordered and replaced yourself. Use the model number of the television to order the correct lamp.

You are right it is the color wheel that is causing all that noise. The color wheel has to replaced, oil or WD will not fix it. To get a replacement it is best to call the manufacture and they will ship the part directly to you.
