The actual time required to replace the screen isn't long. Normally there are only a few screws to remove and a cable or two to unplug. The screen will cost you quite a lot. A Google search just gave me 3 sites offering screens all in the $400 range. Labor for this kind of repair will like be around $100 at most shops.

Unfortunately, repairing a broken screen on a laptop almost always costs more than a new laptop.

Is it possible to fix my cracked acer aspire screen? if so how much will it cost

You can find a local independent specialist to do it locally (I'm one) and for a fair price (I give them) by getting on eBay, finding your screen for your model #, ordering the replacement, insisting on a flat fee (which should be no more than $80 (because Acers can be tough) and get out the other side for about 145 to 165.

That's fair if your laptop is a cracker.

Price subtracted from total.

Sounds like dept 2 is set as a negative department. You need to change the sign of dept 2 to positive. Should be under department programming in the manual.

HI-GRADE Intel Core T2080

Intermittent faults like this are very common in laptops. It is most likely cracked soldering on the mainboard. Sometimes it can be repaired, or it may need a board replacement. Unfortunately, paying the big money doesn't mean high quality these days. Just look at the failure rate of Apple laptops as a good example. A friend of mine has had 16 failures in the top spec Macbook.

Cracked laptop screen

Need to take this in and have it serviced, depending on the laptops' worth, ide consider another laptop OR plug an external monitor into it which makes it a bit hard to transport unless it's a small led monitor.

Laptop Screen is broken

Laptop screens are usually very pricey to fix. Chances ar eyou will need a new one , and the price of a new one + labor for someone to install it usually isn't worth it. For the same price you can purchase a brand new one!

Google can give you an idea about prices. You can check, etc. and they may give you an idea. Ebay is also a good source for parts. Expect anywhere from $300 to $600 .

Smart Computing has some really good articles in it about screen repair. Good Luck.

My new philips hard drive is not being recognised by my laptop anymore (its only 2 weeks old). the light comes on but it does not do the usual run through of contents anymore. i cant find it in my...

HI aoi,

There is no clear indication that a hard drive is about to fail, but there may be several warning signs that trouble is on the horizon. Excessive drive noise (such as loud clatters or whirring noises) can be one common warning sign. Other warning signs may include unusual read/write errors to the drive, often leading to the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death), in which the computer freezes and the screen turns blue.

If the laptop is under warranty, contact the laptop’s manufacturer for service. Some manufacturers may honor the warranty for a marginal drive if the technician agrees that the system is unusable or a total failure is imminent, but other manufacturers may not agree to replace the drive until it actually fails. If the laptop is not under warranty, contact your nearest full-service PC repair center such as CompUSA or Best Buy. They may be able to arrange a depot repair, though the task may take several weeks and cost you a fee. Always get a price and time estimate in writing before giving permission for a repair job. Remember to back up your data before dropping the laptop off for service
