When the Windows options show up pick - Disable automatic restart on system failure. This will stop and show you the error(s) causing it. Write all this info down and post to this discussion

How to turn off safe mode on lap top

When you boot, you get a menu with "safe mode" as one of the options. Next time you boot, watch the screen closely and wait for that menu. Then using the arrows on your keyboard, scroll down to "repair computer". Further instructions in the link below.

I cannot start my lap top A 105-s4074, the screen shows safe mode, reboot etc but nothing helps.

Power on the laptop and keep hitting F8 key. You should see bunch of options. Select the option that says something like "Go back to last known good configuration"

I have a HP Pavillion Lap top and forgot the pass word that goes with my user name

Restart your computer. When your computer is restarting spam the f8 key until it shows you a black screen with multiple options. One of those options will be "Safe Mode". Select this option and it should give you the option to login as administrator when it displays the user select screen. When you select administrator and it lets you in change your account password. Restart your computer again and login with the new password you set.

I have a dell inspiron lap top with window's vista. There is a problem with it. Even when I turn it on with safe mode it goes to the log in screen, then says welcome, and then it goes to a black screen...

Usually what happens with my Dell Inspiron desktop, even on safe mode it goes to the logon screen. I have never experienced that with my Dell Inspiron 1318. When you log in and it shows you the black screen, try pressing the function buttons. Try F8 or F12. You should be able to start the computer in Safe Mode. If possible, enter Safe Mode with Networking so that you are able to search the web. If you don't mind me asking, why is it that you need safe mode? Is it a virus?

Why everytime i turn my lap top on it says its infected and it shut off and the screen turns blue

Consider starting your computer up in safe mode. Hit F8 during boot up, and make sure you choose to use networking mode.

Download Malwarebytes, a great program to get rid of the bugs on your system. If you still can't download when in safe mode, consider using someone else's pc and download it to a thumb drive.

Install it in safe mode, and run it. You may have to run it more than once. This is a great program, and I recently used it to get rid of the conflicker bug off of 3 systems that had similar issues. Having it on a thumb drive was what saved my hours of head ache.

good luck

Opened my lap top HP dv9000 black screen sounded like it was running, I shut down then tried to reboot, starts to reboot then cuts off then tries to reboot and continues this cycle

Try starting the laptop in safe mode.
This is done by pressing F8 while the computer is starting. You will be presented with an option screen and should in the first instance choose safe mode. If the laptop boots you can then check the hardware for faults. If you are not getting past the initial bios boot screen it would be worthwhile downloading the latest bios firmware from the HP web site and installing this.

My HP Notebook first showed a black screen and then after a hard shutdown and restart it only shows a black screen with colored lines. It seems that it is starting up even though I can't see the screen.

Try this,Start in VGA mode.Once started, update your video drivers

To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
  2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
  3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.
Safe Boot options loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');
  • Safe Mode (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows.
  • Safe Mode with Networking (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Network): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows together with the drivers that you must have to load networking.
  • Safe Mode with Command Prompt (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal(AlternateShell)): This option is the same as Safe mode, except that Cmd.exe starts instead of Windows Explorer.
  • Enable VGA Mode: This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured for a setting that the monitor cannot display.
Please rate this a fixa

My hp lap top keeps going into option safe mode then shows me the first screen windows xp then goes back to option safe mode and other options

Hi,

It is possible that your system boot was setup to safe mode everytime it boots up. You may try the steps below.

1. Boot your system to safe mode.

2. Go to Start then Run

3. On the run box type msconfig

4. Look for the tab boot.ini , under this tab uncheck the box that says safeboot then click apply

5. Restart the computer.

Keep me posted.

Thanks.
