Mitsubishi 55'' projection tv model # WS-55909 won't turn on

My tv worked fine yesterday, 11/18/08 in the day. In the evening when I attempted to turn it on, the green power light camne on foe a few seconds and then turned off. I turned it on again and the same thing. I have reset it a number of times now and the same result. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR LEAKY C9A60 470 PF 1000 V PART # 154P400030, PARALLEL TO D9A57 ON THE POWER PCB. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF DIAGNOSIS ERROR 2 2. CHECK FOR OPEN FUSES F9A04 AND F9A05 ON THE +24 AND -24 VOLT LINES. IF THE FUSES ARE OPEN THE CONVERGENCE OUTPUT CIRCUIT WOULD BE SUSPECT

I had the carpet replaced in my home and the tv was unplugged for a short time , when I plugged it back in the timer light is blinking green. It will not power on, it just blinks green.

Thats caused by weak DM capacitors. They discharge when the set is unplugged even briefly then they cant recharge after getting power restored. You can get the Mitsubishi DM repair kit for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com which contains the caps and the CD with repair instructions.

Bad digital/power module. Difficult repair. Have an authorized shop pull module and ship to Mitsubishi for rebuild. Many many caps are bad inside, and probably bad digital board. Factory service is recommended.

The kit comes with original Sanyo STK IC’S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made IC’S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases GOOD LUCK!!!
