Question about HP PSC 2510 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Getting extra 1 inch margin on ''normal'' or ''best'' print

Started using an old hp psc 2510 photosmart printer in the office. at first, when i try to print the printer will pull a piece of paper up thendisplay a message that it is out of paper; when i push ok, it saysthere's a jam so i push ok and it sends that piece of paper out, pull ups another and start printing fine. gotten used to this for 2 days when suddenly the printer started to print fine when i printed documents on "fast draft" mode. however, when I do "normal" or "best" quality print, it advances the paper by an inch so I get an extra margin on top and about 1/8" of the document gets cut. printer does not pull in a new sheet so i guess it assumes the whole document was printed.

Appreciate the fast response from secretgeek50. Am very sure the settings of both the printer and the documents are the same. Both ink tanks are new (bought the day before I had the problem) and aligned before any printing was done. No scraplettes on paper found inside the printer. The printer is stand-alone and is not connected to any network. The setting to print out a blank sheet before the printing job is off. I have checked all the properties of the printer and they are ok. What bugs me is that the document was printing correctly at any print quality chosen after you go through the initial "out of paper/paper jam" problem I mentioned. Said problem was more of an inconvenience but you just keep pressing "ok" to get rid of it. When it suddenly disappeared and the paper would go in on the first "ok", it would only print correctly at "fast draft" mode so that became a headache. It's really weird so I will try updating the driver. Might be corrupted already seeing the printer is a few years old now. Thanks again!

Hi - have you checked the settings for both the document(s) you are trying to print and the defaults for the printer? It could be that there is a default setting that is trying to override what you want to do. I can't think of a reason for it to act differently with different quality of print, unless the ink is running low - that can affect a document printing or not, but again, I would not think to this effect.

Some things to check on -

- Go to the control panel, open the Printers and Faxes folder, and right click on your printer.
Choose PROPERTIES. Make sure everything is set like you want it to be.
(If you are on a network of some kind, someone else's settings could be overriding yours. If you are not on a network, make sure "Do not share this printer" is checked on the sharing tab.)

-try to update the driver. Here is a good place to look -

I am assuming you have already actually checked for little scraplettes of paper that might be stuck near a sensor or an ink cartridge. I'd even pop the ink cartridges out and put them back in. Sometimes dust can build up on them if a printer isn't used often, or has been sitting for a long time.

Also, make sure you don't have a setting on your own computer to print out a blank sheet before a printing job. If your printer is actually run through an I/T department at work, they could have it set up by default to kick out a separator sheet to help keep orders separated.

I hope one of these things might work for you! : )

Also - here is a page from HP with possible solutions to that problem.
Perhaps there is something there that will make sense as well....

How do I change margin setrtings foe Lexmark P4350

If you are preparing to print a document that you have created in Microsoft Word, you may be concerned that all the text on the page will print exactly as you see it on your screen. This is not always the case. You can adjust your print margins to ensure that your text prints on each page exactly the way you would like it to appear.

Opening Your Document
Open your Microsoft Word document by double-clicking the Word icon on your desktop. If you do not see the icon on your desktop, then you can locate it where it is buried on your "Start" menu. Click "Start," followed by "All Programs." Then click "Microsoft Office," followed by "Microsoft Office Word." A new document will open on your screen. Click the "Office Button," followed by "Open." Scroll through the files listed, and double-click the one you would like to print. It will open on your screen.

Check Your Margins
By default, your page margins are set to 1-inch margins on the top, bottom, right and left of your page. You can check your margins or change them by clicking "Page Layout," followed by the "Margins" button.

Select New Margins
Select a different margin size, such as "Narrow," which indicate 1/2-inch margins, or "Wide," which indicate one-inch margins on the top and bottom and two-inch margins on the left and right. You also can select "Moderate," which indicate one-inch margins on the top and bottom and 3/4-inch margins on the left and right. Finally, you can select "Mirrored," which indicates one-inch margins for the top, bottom and outside. The inside margins are set at 1 1/4 inches.

Print Your Page
Print your page. Press "Control" plus the "P" button. The printer dialog menu will come up. Make sure that "All Pages in Range" is selected. Press "OK." If your printer cannot print your new margins, then a new menu will pop up telling you to adjust your margins.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

My hp psc 2510 photosmart doesnt stop prnting. i have turned off power few times but as soon as it turns on start printing constantly.

This isn't the printer. You have to stop the print jobs from your computer. On the lower right of your computer screen there should be some icons, one of them will be a printer. Right click and select open, then you will be able to see what it is trying to print. Cancel the print jobs and your problem is solved.

Yes there is a hp psc 2510 photosmart all-in-one.
I have had one for years--although it is not functioning properly now.
In answer to your question, though, go to the hp.com website and to america then to support/driver site. enter hp psc 2510 photosmart all-in-one in the search section and go to downloads. download the entire software. this takes a lot of time--even more if you do not have dsl.
follow the instructions. also, download the manual if you do not have one.

Print en enveolppe with hp color laser jet 2600n

Envelopes can be printed from tray 1 or 2. Select the type of envelope you are using from the PRINT dialog box or the driver. In your program, set the margins. Typical margins for a commercial #10 or DL envelope would be: Return Address Top margin 15mm(0.6 Inch) Left margin 15mm(0.6 Inch), Delivery Address Top margin 51mm(2 Inches) Left margin 89mm(3.5 Inches). For the best print quality, position margins no closer than 15mm (0.6 Inch) from the edges of the envelope. Avoid printing on the seams of the envelope. Envelopes with a peel-off adhesive strip or more than one flap that folds over to seal must use adhesives that are compatible with the heat and pressure of the printer fuser. the extra flaps and seals can cause wrinkling, creasing and feed jams, could even damage the fuser.
