Question about LG Washing Machines

1 Answer

My front-loading washing machine isn't getting our clothes clean.

This machine appears to be very short of water as it reverses slowly back and forth, and over time our white clothes--like new T-shirts--are getting dingier and dingier. When we bought the machine, it was top-rated, so maybe it's just not set up correctly.

Check if there is enough water coming from the hose attached to the machine.

There is a valve called the inlet valve, see diagram below, check that the inlet valve is clean.

There is a also a water level switch that is a sensor that can stop the water flow, that can also be the problem.

Start checking the water supply hoses, usually they are cause of similar problems.

Most machines today hv low levels of water for conservation. As a short term solution you just have to add a liter of water via the soap drawer while it is filling up for the initial run, that is after the soap has washed down.
See that the inlet valve is open fully, and that you hv good pressure. Cleaning as how Ginko has explained; with an old tooth brush.

Front load washer, try to spin, but stops altogether and want wash it fills up but want wash

Make sure that you don't over load the washer. As it starts to spin back and forth it is sensing the load balance as the clothes fall back and forth. If it doesn't sense a balanced load because the clothes can't fall back and forth it will not start the wash process. Refuse your load and try again.

I have a MHWE500VW11 and I hate it! It doesn't get the clothes clean. Give me my old top loader any day. I have to over wash everything on steam clean and it's killing my clothes. I do more dry...

One thing to check is the capacity of the machine. If you used to have a top loader you may be used to packing more clothes in, and the front loader may not be able to clean the same capacity.

Your manual should indicate the maximum weight of clothes for each kind of load. For example a 40 degree mixed load should usually weigh less than a 40 degree cottons load.

If you try washing less in each load you should find your clothes get cleaner.

Hi can you tell me which programme is the short wash and spin please

I think I have the same type of washing machine as you do. Wash is when all the clothes get agitated or mixed with soap and water (ever look in there when its washing? the water can get pretty gross looking!) So in my washer, the rinse cycle is when all that gross water is drained, and the washer spins while spraying clean water over the clothes to get rid of the dirty water and soap. I think mine does this 5 or 6 times in the cycle. Next is the spin cycle, which is when the washer spins REALLY fast to **** as much water out of the clothes as possible, so that the clothes aren't sopping wet when you put them in the dryer.

It sounds like your mom has a newer washing machine, probably a front load one, and they do seem to keep using clean water, instead of just agitating the clothes in dirty water.

Clothes have "dirty dishrag" smell after washing

If you open the door of your Neptune, you'll notice a small trough between the door gaskets (inner and outer) There is a drain at the bottom that can get blocked by lint and other funky stuff. Next time you do a load of towels, take a small dirty towel and wipe that area of your machine out real well. Secondly load a slightly smaller load in your machine. Be sure to use a HE compatible soap...less foaming- it does make a difference.. Also the swishy slushy sound is normal and there is liquid in the drum for balancing...it's normal.. I think with a clear door drain, a bit smaller load .you'll find it won't be smelly.. I've got one of these and the only time it gets ordoriforous is when I've jammed it to max capacity. Let me know if all this helps you out. k

Dirt left in creases after washing clothes. Clothes never look clean

Too many clothes in the load , if it says 5lb then that is the maximum you should fill it with otherwise the clothes do not seperate as they are being agitated

Also

Not enough detergent (Try the old powder types)

Hard Water area (Use a small amount of Washing Soda)

Water level too low , use add water button if fitted

Frigidare front load washing macine leaks water

Sounds like the dispenser is leaking somehow, there is no filter that would cause it to leak. Remove lid of washer by screws on back lip and inspect during fill to see where leak is.
