Removing Blower Fan

I tried that the first time. Is the left handed threads as facing the blower or back of motor?

Whirlpool ultimate care ii dryer, only works when continuosly pressed the start button. What can be the problem. whirlpool ultimate care ii dryer model gew9878lw0

More likely than not either the start/run switch on your motor wen't bad, or the motor windings itself. Either way you need to replace the motor #279827 around $100 on up.
Not tough to get to if you know how to gain access to the cabinet, just remember that the blower wheel and motor threads going into the blower wheel are LEFT hand thread,
have fun, and best of luck,

How do i take the fan off

Good day,
You need a good wrench that will fit on the nylon shaft of the blower. A second wrench is needed to fit on the flat of the pulley on the front of the motor.
It's best, if the motor is still mounted in place.
The threads on the blower wheel are LEFT HANDED, which means you turn the wrench on the front of the motor clockwise to loosen it.
Once again, the wrench used on the blower wheel must be a good fit. It is best to just let it rotate, until it rests on the bearing support shaft. Apply pressure (usually a lot). If it breaks loose, continue to turn it until it falls back into the rear cavity.

If it rounds off, don't feel bad. About half will come off, the rest will not. You'll need a long screw driver or chisel, to break it off.

Thank you for using FixYa

The blower fan is lose how do you tighten it up . Whirlpool Duet Dryer

Use a 3/4' wrench on the blower wheel and a 7/16 wrench on the front shaft of the motor. The threads on the rear shaft are left hand threads so make sure you turn the shaft in the proper direction.check the wheel for cracks, usually if they are loose they're damaged,

How do you get to the motor of the dryer looks like all one bug piece of metal wrapped around the drum

Disconnect Power. Lift Cover on lint filter. Remove two Phillips screws taking care NOT to allow them to fall into the blower housing. Place putty knife in the seam between the top and front panel about 2” in from either side. Push in on clip while pulling control panel forward and tilting putty knife handle up, all at the same time. Same on opposite side. Raise top all the way.

Looking down inside dryer on left and right see a 5/16” hex head screw about 6 inches down. Remove each side while holding front panel in place. Pull top of front panel about 3 inches forward from sides and then pull up. This will disengage the front panel from lower pressure clips and allow you to turn it sideways and expose the dryer interior. Reverse process to re-assemble. Take careful note of belt configuration BEFORE removing it. Draw a diagram of its travel.

Motor and idler pulley for dyer will be on right. If you decide to change your own motor remember to write down what color wires go to what # terminals before removing any wires from the motor. This style of dryer has a fan blower threaded onto one end of the motor shafts, the fan blower is a left hand thread. See this picture link for how to get the fan blower off of the motor shaft. Angle the motor exactly as you found it. Rotating it may cause it to scrape against the drum.

Reverse Process for reassembly.

Replacement motor

your blower fan screws onto the end shat of the motor. Now the direction? It could be reverse threads. Since you are changing out the motor stick a screw driver in the old motor to lock it up and try righty-lefty to loosen your fan. don't damage the fan with tools. Go here and see if your fan is shown www.repairclinic.com

Remove blower wheel

Put a good fittting wrench on the blower nut and hit it with an impact wrench(left handed threads righty lucy). OR do it the tried and true redneck way get a friend to hold a pipe wrench on the pulley inside the dryer, around the back slide a small hammer handle or piece of wood in between two blower blades at 3 o'clock position and slam downwards to pop that mutha loose. The threads are left handed(backwards). That blower does not wanna go easy.
