Hi, maybe you are not feeding a 5 channel program.

Use built-in test tone to check if all speakers are wired and working correctly.

You're guessing. That is exactly the wrong thing to do. Get the manual.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Kenwood-VR-205-Receivers-manual/id/480ci174/t/2/

"[D]vd 6 channel input" is for a 6-channel analog input as the name implies. I doubt you even have a source that HAS 6 analog channel outputs.

Speakers are OUTPUTS of the amplifers' speaker posts. Any one can work ANYwhere.

And that bi-wire capability, IF the speakers have it - pretend it isn't there.

NAD T-763 receiver. cannot get surround sound. all speakers work. should the 7.1 and or surround be connected to the receiver and what else. stereo works fine....two front speakers, in stereo mode. ...

Have you looked at the manual? There is no internal source that would produce 7.1 audio other than the test tones. Attach a multichannel source according to ITS manual.

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

you probably hit a button saying 2 CH or 2 Channel which cuts out the other speakers. find a button that says dolby Digital or the surround button

Nakamichi AV-7 (issue with surround mode - prologic)

Nice Receiver!
>In your surround sound settings make sure the levels are set correctly and the distance from your listing point to the furtherest
speakers are set to accommodate the levels etc.
>How many speakers 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 (1meaning subwoofer)
>Pro-Logic supports 5.1 but not sure about 6 or 7
>Pro-Logic II does support all
>Make sure you are hear the sound from all sometimes the sound is really faint if you are in surround mode

Thank You and good luck

Rear Surround speakers

Best thing to do is to put the unit in 5 channel or 7 channel mode. That will send left ch information to the front left and rear left speakers ( both will get the same information). Ditto with the right channel. The center channel will get centre channel information.

If all the speakers work, go out and rent TOP GUN. ( yes its old), BUT there are a few extreme scenes , one of which is the elevator scene, where the camera changes perspective and suddenly you hear the elevator doors close BEHIND you through only the surround speakers ( have the unit in surround mode....NOT 5 or 7 ch mode ). If this works ok, then you have no problems.

Remember, surround sound only produces information in the rear channels when the information is there. To check out the digital and DTS decoders, get an action flick. If you can, get a remote too, because that will unlock many features about the receiver that you cant get to with the front panel controls. Also go to yamaha and download the owners manual ( its free !!).....that should get you going.....

best of luck...

I have an Harman kardon receiver (avr 310) it only plays in left and rigth speaker with surround off . I try everything to make it work in other but it can't .

Surround only works from a surround source such as Pro Logic.
If you are useing a regular stereo source with surround off, the sound will come only from L/R speakers (and sub woofer if used)

if you have a main speaker system working properly, takea known good amp to ch2. wire the main pre amp out to amp 2 input.. turn both units on(no spkrs connected), fire it up. if the amp does not go into protect mode, turn ALL power off to the system.,connect one Spkr channel on A2, AND TURN THE VOLUME DOWN FIRS!!!!. pOWER UP THE SYSTEM AND SEE WHAT YOU GET.BE GENTLE WITH VOLUME SETTINGD! If ch 1 works, repeat procedure with ch 2 pre amp out.
