I have a friends computer because my computer went down and don't have a CD to install this printer can i get help on line fro this problem?

Again I am trying to use a Lexmark X1270 with a laptop that's running Vista (which means the help on the CD provided cannot be accessed, because the version of Windows Help used to compile it is not supported by Vista!!!). At first I got a "Prop Res DLL not loaded" message, but this appeared to be because the Lexmark installation left lxczprpr.dll in the wrong place. Moving the file got rid of this message, only for me to be told that there was no connection.

Further to my previous post. I navigated my way through the muddy waters of the Lexmark website to:

I ignored everything, except FILE INFORMATION, at bottom right

    - selecting this appeared to give all the information needed.

I “uninstalled” the printer using the Lexmark facility (Start>Programs>), restarted the computer, followed the instructions given, and all seemed to be going well until I got to the actual set up, when I got a Windows error message “setup.exe stopped running”.

Anyone else want to give it a try? I've sent a request for help to Lexmark Customer Support. I'll let you know if they are any help.

You didn't notify that when you bought your printer and also didn't notify that where your printer is USB
supported or not.
Anyhow this problem may occur for some causes.
1. If your printer is USB dependable the problem can be in your USB cable.
In this case you can try changing the USB cable
2. The problem can be in the USB port of your PC
In this case you can tray changing the port.
3. Other wise there may have a problem with your printer
In this case you should contact with your dealer.

Have you tried any other USB devices ? Did you load your motherboard USB drivers

usually the steps for installing a usb printer is to load the drivers, and then you will be prompted to
plug in the printer and turn it on, at that time your system will finish loading the drivers and complete
the setup process..

Laptop not communicating with printer windows xp

Vista uses a different driver. Here is Lexmark Support Page:

Lexmark Support

Enter your printer (X1270) and it will take you to the tech support page for your printer. Click "Download Driver". Next page select Vista as your operating system. Next page select "Download Now". It's a large file...40MB.

Save it on your desktop and when the download is done, double click the icon on your desktop to install.

How to install my lexmark x1270 without a cd

The only way to setup the printer without the proper drivers would be to use windows add new printer. However windows does not have lexmark x1270 listed. You can dlownload the software from lexmark & install the software / drivers without using the cd.
You need to choose your version of windows to continue.
This next site will show you how to connect your x1270.
Also listed is the user's guide manual.
Hope this can help you.
