Hello the chipset driver can be downloaded here:

http://www.msi.com/service/download/

By entering the mainboard ms xxxx number.
Select your windows system.
Any file from the msi site needs to be unziped before you install.

If you run windows xp you need at least service pack 1 to support the usb function.

Look also in the device manager for driver fault.

Good luck

Onboard usb

VIA needs to stop making USB chipsets... lol... Are you sure you have USB legacy support enabled? Moreover, the default Windows XP drivers are not error free when used with a VIA Rev 5 USB Host Controller because it's actually a VIA Enhanced Host Controller. Every time I have USB problems with the VIA Enhanced Host Controller I go to there website, download the driver, and it usually fixes the problem.

USB 2.0 (VT6202, VT6212, VT6214/L)

Moreover, I have plugged in a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse and Windows XP could not detect it until I installed Microsoft Intellipoint; if you can believe that. Try also installing the mouse drivers as well...
