Depending on how old the unit is, the hard drive may have failed. if you take this unit to well known repair shop ,if they are good they should be able get most of your files if not all of them . do not try to do anything yourself , it takes a person who knows what they doing to do this.

What is the authentication code?

there are two codes "registration" the first one you input during the install then the "authentication" ether have to call in & get it or log on to the internet & register, then they give you a code that says that its not pirated, if you have icon on your desk top, "you've installed it" right click & go to "properties" then click on "open file location" look for "register" or "license" it is a "EXE" file click on one of those it might get you were your going, if by chance you have the code & it came from a "kick" or "bay" type share site? you messed up a step during the install, you'll have to uninstall & run ccleaner, "read everything carefully" & retry, if its legit ("I'm not assuming anything" or saying its not. "god know Ive needed to share a file or two, I always block it with the firewall ") also try opening the application, if you can get to the interface, go to the help tab far right & look for register or license & try that..

Dell Dimension 4600 desk top out of virtual memory

Some computers can be slow or short of hard drive space for quite simple reasons.
Windows and other program hide temporary files in lots of different places
The best option is not always a program or utility and if you want to do as much as you can for FREE like I do then you have a few options.

1. First you need to be in windows explorer.

2. Click TOOLS and FOLDER OPTIONS

3. Now click the VIEW tab

4. Tick the Show Hidden Files And Folders option
Unpick Hide Protected Operating System Files (it may warn you but you can ignore it)

5. Click APPLY then OK

6. NOTE some files may not delete this is OK Also DO NOT DELETE the folder itself where mentioned for cleaning.

7. Using windows explorer go into the WINDOWS folder and look for a directory called TEMP (it is possible there may be more than one)

8. Select all the contents and delete them. Do the same for any other temp folder e.g. temp000

9. Now navigate to Documents and Settings
There are quite a few folders in here that can be cleaned up

10. Look for folders named "Local Settings" In there you will find more TEMP folders that can be cleaned out

11. Now look inside the Temporary Internet Files. Delete anything EXCEPT cookies. Otherwise passwords for some sites you have stored may need you to type the password again.

12. Do this for each user / profile you see.

13. Now check the C: drive itself and see if there are any Temp folders and clean those out too

To prevent accidental deletion of any files windows needs you should go back to step (4) and change the two settings back to their original

Hope this gives you the information you need

It would be very decent of you to consider the quality of our experts answers and judge them accordingly as you pass through FixYa.

Seagate freeagent xtreme desk 1TB wouldt start..:(

The clicking sound means that the are that controls the head that reads the disc is loose and not functioning properly. The drive is bad. There is a way you can possibly recover the files though. Put the drive in a freezer for an hour or so. This will make all the metal parts contract as they get colder. After it is frozen then plug it in and attempt to get your files. It will eventually warm up and start failing again. Time to refreeze it. I've been sucessful recovering files this way before. Sometimes it takes a long time to get them all but better than paying thousands of dollars for recovery.

Hard drive started making a loud clicking noise

Clicks from a hard drive are never good news. If the disk is still readable I'd STRONGLY advise an immediate backup, starting from the most important files. Unfortunately USB does not support SMART querying of disks - you'd need to extract the HD from the enclosure and connect it directly to a PC to do that - but the disk sync information might have degraded to the point that the disk needs to recalibrate fully. This is usually followed, as the degradation continues, by the disk becoming unreadable.

A more detailed description (albeit understandably a bit biased) is here:

6 mnths old Alto L8 Mixing desk developed hiss on channel 1 only.

The slider or the amps for channel 1 may have a problem.

Sliders do wear out.

Try shorting channel 1 input and see if that affects the noise. A hissing noise is probably a bad preamp chip. That is shop work at a repair facility.

Mac mini desk top can not click

You can access your desktop as though it were any other folder and thus delete its contents however you'd care to.

In Finder, go to the File Menu > New Finder Window. It should automatically open your user folder and show Application, Desktop, Documents, etc. From there, simply open the Desktop folder and delete the files.
If any other window is opened, click on Mac HD > Users > [your user name here] > Desktop and do the same.
