Question about Philips GoGear Flash MP3 Player

4GB GOGEAR when turned on says Updating Player

It stays this way till it dies. That's pretty much all the info. Haven't plugged it into a pc. If i do plug it into a pc will i have to have software for it??

Yes you need software. Did you read the manual? Try this:
Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

There should be a switch near the bottom, the same switch that allows you to lock it. You just pull it the other way and hold it down. A message should display that it is shutting off.

Connect your device in repair mode to the PC. Using Philips Device Manager try to repair your item. How to do it is described here:

try using device manager to repair your player..the volume + key needs to be pressed while connecting to PC

My Philips GoGear 4GB MP3 player froze up and will not come back.


well if your Philips MP3 GoGear freezes up. find somthing small enough to fit in the reset hole and push it in until it shuts down.if ur light shuts off but is still froze on the same screen hold the power button and it wiil power down all the way.l then turn your gogear on and it will be ready to go TRUST ME I JUST DID IT...HAHAHA

Make sure the lock is not engaged.

Try plugging the Mp3 into the PC. After that take it off and turn it back on. I hope this works for you. Good Luck.

Freezing


Open Philips Device Manager.

Reset player using reset button at base of player.

Press and hold [PLAY / PAUSE] button whilst connecting to the PC.

Device Manager should show error with device.

Follow the on-screen prompts to repair the player.

Note : ALL FILES ON THE PLAYER WILL BE DELETED.
