Question about Ambir Technology DocketPort 485

Scan coming in all black with DocketPort 485

I have a DocketPORT 485 scanner from Ambir. It worked fine. Then about a week ago when I tried scanning a document, it came through all black. It was a scan of a normal text document.

I went into the settings and chose to negate the scan. Now it came in all black, but with white text. Therefore, negate worked correctly. When I unchecked negate, it came in all black again.

I tried to recalibrate with the calibration sheet, but it now fails and doesn't give me any indication of why.

Any ideas?

    Our company has dozens of these dockport 485 scanners. All are failing with the same type symptom. They scan completly black or maybe scan the first inch ok and the rest black.

    Same issue with 2 of these but only on certain machines. Some machines works fine

The first thing that you should try is to calibrate the scanner. If you don't have the calibration paper you can use a blank white 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. This should clear it up. If it fails calibration after repeated tries you most likely have broken the lens or the image sensor is no longer working. If that is the case then there isn't much you can do i would suggest contacting the manufacturer and hoping that unit is still in warranty.

The software that comes with your computer is only made for that make and model so it won't work on any other computer if you find it. You didn't mention what you are trying to install, and your question is confusing. Please repeat it again and I'll try to help. I'm just guessing what your problem is. You may be trying to install an incompatible software.

There isn't anything you can do the gears inside that scanner I missaligned. I would suggest contacting the manufacturer and seeing if the unit is still in warranty. Those things are impossible to open up so you wont be able to fix it yourself.
