Question about HP 5510 4-in-one Printer
I had to uninstall and install the printer to get something hung in the printer queue. Now I can not fax from the computer or scan something from the printer into the computer. I had this problem when I first bought the 5510 but the solutions I had from then is not now working. When I called HP there is no support for this older printer. Could there be something ""hung up" that did not uninstall? The printer/fax does not show up as on my computer at this time. Using Windows XP.
With my XP system I considered it had become top heavy after years of updates in particular SP3 which gave it a headache in my view. I found that when it got into a mood to rattle its files "gently" may help.
Fragments of files get left behind which Windows loves to keep unless it has to overwrite them so I first run check/scandisk and if you can wait the full surface check, this will help to put its file house in some order.
Also to run Defragment this tidies the files plus may overwrite fragments left behind.
Then its a case of visiting HP to download the last/latest support and driver software which will better suit an XP with updates than an original supplied installation disc which may have have issues with a later version of XP.
There a other avenues but if you have not done the above for some time it will give your XP a boost anyway by putting files in order so speeding up its system and maybe solve some along the way.
Hope it helps.........

There is a utility called Microsoft Fit it that might be able to help uninstall the older version of the HP Photosmart software from your PC. It is pretty strait forward to run.
Once it is done try installing the software again.
Please let me know how it goes.

if printing from 2 other computer works fine, will i think its not an issue of IP address which changes somehow. but anyways, try to check if you still have other printer drivers under "PRINTERS" (see control panel). it should say HP Photosmart c6100 series. If you also have there a printer icon that says HP Photosmart c6100 series Copy1, try using it (right click on that icon and choose Set as Default Printer). If you only have HP Photosmart c6100 series under PRINTERS, try to right click, then choose properties. When Properties box is open, click on PORTS tab. then click on configure ports below. Try to type in the IP address of the printer under "Printer Name or Host name or IP address". make sure that you already printed network configuration page to get the exact ip address of the printer, Dont know how to print? do this.
PRINTING NETWORK CONFIGURATION PAGE
1. press setup, then scroll down and look for Network.
2. press okay on network, it will give you the first option "VIew network settings".
3. press okay on it, and it will give you the first option "Print network configuration page."
4. choose that and press okay. it will print the network config page. from this document, you will be able to see the IP address of the printer.
Please let me know if the issue is still not resolve so that i can go ahead and give you another possible solution.
Thank you so much.

well........ first of all it depends on the Operating System on you computer, then starting from there the advice that i can give you it is to fully uninstall the software and then install the software back using the version that is on hp.com
after that when you have the full sw installed you have to set up the scan button on the printer from the twain scan window but that will be a piece of cake. just make sure ot get the software properly installled.
