Unplug the set and a box if used and then after a short wait plug both up to allow both to reboot.

If using the coax fitting on set you can with a box connect to rear inputs and bypass the problem= ie if the rear jacks work with a DVD etc.

I would recommend that you unplug the tv for 5 minutes, and plug it back up. Most of the time it will reset the unit, and clear the issue. If not you may be looking at a more serious issue.

Tv stays on one channel,no color or picture just ghost or outline, i have a Sharp lc46sb 54u

Check the settings to see if it is locked on channel 3 for external tuner source to have an input from a cable box ant in that needs 3 to function or from some other externally decoded signal like a vcr. Does the TV have a Digital tuner or the old analog tuner? If it's digital you can hook up a rabbit ear antenna with the UHF output on it & should be able to tune in some stations. If it's the old style then you will need a converter box to get it to receive any stations.
Fist check the settings to see if it has it set to lock on channel 3 for external tuner source.

How do I add the HD channels picked up my HD antenna to the master channel list on my Visio TV?

Hello, with the set on, press the menu button, move the cursor down till the "Tuner" section is hi-lighted, click on it. Then the first selection is "Tuner Mode" click on it, the choose "Antenna" click on it. Then move to the "Auto Channel Scan" and click on it, and let it set all your channels. when done, just exit menu and change channels as desired. you can go to page 39 in your manual for these instructions: Tuner Mode
Select Cable or Antenna depending
upon which equipment you have
attached to the DTV / TV Input.
Auto Channel Search
Automatically search for TV channels
that are available in your area. Be
sure to first select the correct tuner
mode above. The TV will search for
analog and digital channels. When the
search is done, press EXIT to begin
watching your programs. thanks, Terry

You have selected an input on the display that is not getting any signal that the display can recognize. Press the source button either on the set or on the remote until you get a signal.

Why can't I use a digital antenna on my flat

Most televisions today have a setup mode for the tuner where it searches for channels based upon the input type. Older sets required the user to input whether or not the source was over-the-air broadcast, analog cable, or digital cable. If you were using your set with the cable or satellite system previously. you will most likely need to run the setup again with the digital antenna and let the set find the channels available via the antenna.

My Magnavox MDR515H HDD recorder usually records the programs perfectly. But sometimes the tuner loses the cable signal and the playback goes blank during the recording. I have encountered this a couple...

Actually sounds like the feed for your HDD is going south on you. I would get another recorder to verify this scenario. Or, you could supply a local signal to the HDD to verify the problem. Use a VCR, DVD player, or the like to check it this way. The outputs from most local sources will be copy-protected, but you'll have Some signal.

I HAVE NO CABLE BETWEEN TUNER AND AMPLIFIER

Normally you should have a stereo "line" connection. The cable consists of a pair of "RCA male connectors" on each end of the cable, "RCA" is the style of the connectors, usually one red and one black or white on each end.. "Line" refers to the type signal and voltage level of the signal. The tuner should have a pair of output jacks labeled as such and also labeled Right and Left. The power amp should have similar jacks labeled "tuner input" or "tape in", "phono in" etc. don't use phono or "mic in" if that is a choice. Use tuner in or tape in. Connect the same colors to the same channel on each unit, ie, red to right and black to left on each unit. On the amp you may have the option to select the input source. Select the one you are using for the tuner. Turn on the tuner and the amp and listen. Good Luck.

My tv comes on and has "unusable signal" floating on it

What is your signal source, OTA or cable? Did lightning or another type of power surge recently hit? Make sure you have the TV on the desired input.

If OTA check your antenna direction and that you have the Channel Setup (from the menu) set to Antenna. Also check if you have the right antenna to get stations in your area. Antennaweb.org gives the most likely channels and directions. tvfool.com will give more detailed information and more stations. Both sites assume outdoor antennas but the direction information is always good. Look for new construction or big trees that might block the signal. Do you have multiple TVs sharing the same antenna? You might need an amplifier.

If cable, check the Channel setup. Check for someone recently damaging your cable installation (cutting the wires, trying to split the signal to get it for free) Splitting the signal to multiple TVs may also be an issue, get an amplifier of the correct type. Some cable systems may require a bidirectional amplifier.

If you recently had a power surge, see if the TV works with other inputs.
Tuners can be replaced if the TV is worth the labor costs for you.

I hope this helps.

( My household had three tvs and a digital to analog converter that lost their tuners after a nearby lightning strike. We chose to replace the TVs since two were over 15 years old and the third was also out of warranty.)
