Question about Siemens WTXD5300US Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Lint filter sensor cuts off machine within 5-10 minutes.

Filter is clean, ductwork clear. Have had "Factory Authorized" service on 3 occasions...they are clueless. Also had a service call from a non-authorized appliance repair company--more wasted money.
At this point, I prefer to disconnect the whole "lint checking" system and be done with this darn problem, as I thoughly clean lint filter each time dryer is used. The dryer has been useless for months, and it's getting too cold for a clothesline, especially in light of this unit's original cost!!
Thanks.
I  await your reply.

It sounds like you might think you are sending this to Siemans? You aren't, Fixya is a self help website, people just like you helping others. Some of us are Experts on various subjects, like dryers.

Dryers need airflow and this lint filter just works out that either the temperature is getting too hot, or there is not enough airflow.

Trouble spots are usually the following;

Exhaust hoses too long.
Sharp bends on hoses.
Birds nests in hoses. Happened to me twice!
Wet lint build up as the hot wet air hits the first bend.
Plastic concertina hoses are really bad for air flow. Use the aluminium ones that are almost smooth.

Or my guess in your case, is vent flaps that are not opening fully or blocked. The whole external assembly with flaps and tube should be changed about every 5 years

Check filter light blinking will not start only beeps what to do please help

Probably a lint buildup on the sensor. Need to clean the entire lint system. Should be able to remove the plastic frill if the lint filter is inside the drum. Remove the two screws and clean out all the lint then pull the dryer out remove the vent hose. Run a vacuum hose or reach up i to there and pull out the li t. Then clean out the vent hise...a broom handle works if it's a straight shot.

The dryer stops

I would recommend you have someone take the dryer completely apart and clean the lint out. In the last 3 months, I have cleaned out 2 or 3 shoeboxes of lint from each of 5 machines.
This has nothing to do with the filter screen you are supposed to clean after every use.
It has to do with the lint that escapes the ductwork inside the machine itself.
You may be amazed how much you will find.
You will also need to check the ductwork from the back of your machine to the outside air. That pipe can also get clogged and cause the same results.
Be blessed.

I own a Bosch Nexxt Series Electric Dryer, the clothes come out with a petrolium smell, grease or something. I have cleaned the trap, duct work, bearing shield to no avial. It is not the washer, the

Instructions

Dryer Does Not Turn On
1

Ensure that the dryer's power supply cord is firmly plugged into an electrical outlet.
2

Inspect the structure's fuse box for a tripped fuse. Each fuse is assigned a single "On/Off" switch. If any fuse switch is in the "Off" position, flip that switch to the "On" position. If the problem persists, contact a professional electrician.

3

Press the "Start/Stop" button on the left side of the dryer's control panel.
4

Close the dryer door firmly so that the door clicks into place. The dryer will not operate if the door is not shut.
Lint Filter
5

Clean the lint filter. Twist the program selector knob on the control panel to the "Off" position, then open the dryer door. Pull the lint filter out of the dryer. The lint filter is located at the front of the dryer's tumbler, and is inserted vertically into the dryer. Gently stroke your hand over the filter to clear the lint, then reinsert the filter and close the door.
6

Turn the dryer off and allow at least 30 minutes for the dryer to cool, as excessive heat can cause a drying program malfunction.
7

Increase the ventilation of the room the dryer is located in, such as by opening a door or window. Excessive heat will cause the dryer to automatically turn off until it cools as a safety measure. Increasing the ventilation will help keep the dryer cool.
Clothing Not Fully Dry
8

Clean the moisture sensor. Open the dryer door to access the moisture sensor. The black-colored sensor consists of two bars, and is located at the front of the dryer's tumbler, to the left of the lint filter. The sensor should be cleaned with a clean cloth and white vinegar once per month.
9

Clean the lint filter. Twist the program selector knob on the control panel to the "Off" position, then open the dryer door. Pull out the lint filter. The lint filter is located at the front of the dryer's tumbler, and is inserted vertically into the dryer. Gently stroke your hand over the filter to clear the lint, then insert the filter back into the dryer and close the door.
10

Spin the laundry at a higher spin speed in the washing machine before placing the laundry into the dryer to reduce the moisture content.
11

Turn the dryer off and allow at least 30 minutes to pass for the dryer to cool, as excessive heat can cause a drying program malfunction.

Why do We have to dry clothes several times to get them dry?

It might just be time do do a little cleanup. No matter how good you are at cleaning the filter, lint is still gonna build in the dryer. themobilian_993.jpg

Whirlpool dryer Cabrio 6 months old. message on screen is "AF" what does that mean?

Code AF means the air flow is blocked.
Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.
Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum.

Our dryer works but it takes about two full cycles at 60 minutes each on high to dry the clothes

Sounds like the vent is plugged. Disconnect the vent hose from the vent and test again. If it drys normally your vent is plugged and will need to be cleaned.

Laundry not getting dry

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Remove the exhaust vent from the rear of the dryer. Run a timed load at 45 minutes. If it dries correctly clean your connecting vent your wall vent and the lint from inside the machine.
