Question about Kenmore 64852 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

It starts and runs for about 20 - 30 secondds then stops

The problem that I am having with my 2 year old kenmore is that it would run for about 20 -30 seconds then shut off and I cant turn it back on for about 5 minutes when I hear a click. Then it does it again. I have check for lint to see if that might be the problem but it is lint free. I got another dryer. It is another brand all together and it is doing the same thing that the kenmore is doing.

Pwolf, looks like the problem you?re having is not with the dryer. The vent line is probably clogged up, which caused the dryer to overheat. The hi limit thermostat opens up which shuts off the dryer. After it cools down and closes, you are able to restart the dryer. To make sure this is a vent problem, you can disconnect the vent hose behind the dryer and run it for one load with it disconnected. If it runs fine, then the vent line needs cleaning. Usually it needs special equipment and is very hard to do yourself. It would cost you around $90 to get a professional out to do it for you. If it doesn?t run with the hose disconnected, then you have to provide the complete model number, which is located on the door frame. back.

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

My kenmore dryer starts, gets hot, runs for 10 minutes and then stops. Could it be the thermostat?

how old is the dryer?sounds like the motor is bad,you could read out the thermostats but usually when they go the dryer will still run.alot of times i go in and the motor is covered with lint,it's like a blanket on top of the motor overheating it,people don't know that the dryer should be cleaned out,you need to blow out the vent line, clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and vac out the inside of the dryer,i do it once a year and my dryer is 17 years time send model number,i can look up your dryer and tell you how much a motor is and give you the part number,it's not that hard to change out the motor

Kenmore dryer not running

Ticking sound is the timer running--so it is not the problem unless a contact has failed or a wire has come loose.  Broken door switch, thermostat failed in open position, or clogged lint filter/exhaust vent/outlet would keep unit from running.  If you can hear the motor running but the drum is not turning then the drum belt is broken.

Sears kenmore dryer wont run (Electric)

Sounds like the motor relay and/or the even heat board. Remove endcaps from console and remove 2 screws in corner. Pull console torwards you and up and it will flip up. The board is on the left and there are 2 relays on the right. The only difference is one has big red wires and the other has smaller blue ones. Blue wires are motor relay. Possibility of door switch also broken off.

Kenmore dryer 70 Series doesn't shut off, timer continues to run

there are 2 different kinds of units made back then.
one has a push to start button that could have a stuck contact causing the unit to think you are pushing the button and want it to run again.
the other could have a stuck motor switch and thats not available separately. you would have to replace the motor. try to clean any lint out of the motor if you have that type. use compressed air to blow the lint out of the motor. it usually works to get the lint out and it can cause the switch to stick.
