Yes, more-so than in a conventional crt based unit without all the extras... You'll need to disconnect many more wires and attachments to get the main board removed then it's about the same job to de-solder the detector and solder a new one in... If you need, take pictures from several different positions in case you stumble getting it back together and can't figure out were a set of wires go to or something. I would order the Ir sensor before you start the job, p/n# 72796410 maybe from Vance Baldwin...

The vcr says eject when I turn on the tv then in shuts off the tv every time

The loading sensor is detecting by itself as the optocoupler may be defective. Hence the mode is shifting to loading and sicne tthe action is nott completing due to the lock in the mechanism the motor is made to work without completion of the mode. Hence and errror goes out to the processor to confirm an incomplete process tto shut off the VCR/Tv combine. You will have to disengage the IR detector to stop the motor to run so as to confirm before replacing. The mode must be brought to rest and the TV will power on and stay. You can now change the sensor. Also make sure if the mechansim has not shifted in alignment as this also is a possible fault with the same result. Hope this helps. Good day

Our Sylvania tv/dvd/vcr combo remote is not working and it is a new remote

If the remote is new and OK, then my opinion is the Ir Receiver on the front panel of your TV set is burned, replace it with new ones will solve the problem.

To locate it, follow the Ir receiver that written on the front panel of your TV, behind it is the Ir Receiver .

TV not detecting remote control signal

It's simply a defective IR sensor Toshiba P/N 72796410 and if you know how to remove the main board and have a soldering unit that is a bit more delicate than than the monsters they sell at rat shack, some solder and desoldering braid you just might be able to do it yourself...

Not receiving IR Commands from remote.

replace the IR sensor...I don't have a part number for it..but I have seen IR sensors grow either weak..or fail totally..also you'll want to verify that the remote is can buy an infrared detector strip from radio shack for a couple bucks...all you do is push power on the remote continuously..and hold the detector strip up to the front of the remote..if you see a red flashing on the strip..the remote is transmitting..if not..the remote has low battery..or has taken a dirt nap.......

Remote Control Won't Work

Could be the IR detector or something in the support circuit for that sensor - it's a bit like sayin my car goes thump, thump, thump what's wrong.. :) Ahh better not go for laughs here...Let me ask, Do all the rest of the functions of the TV work okay? (ie volume, channel, power on/off)? Did you purchase the original remote, as a replacement, for that TV or some universal? When the remote quit working - was it working one-day and then just not working the next? Have you recently moved the TV, one-room to another, out of the way to clean underneath or moved it in any way? Let me know. Bill my private email is

Remote control issues

Yes it is a quessing game. If we experts do not have the set in front of us to trouble shoot, but I will explain the process. First off to work on any tv set, your going to need a schematic diagram or should have one, or it will be a crapshoot. Next set up your osilliscope and multimeter. First check the B+ going to the IR sensor. If its at 9 to 15 volts, and is clean without distortion, Im thinking that is ok, but check the manual to see what it is suppose to be. Once the B+ is confermed good. Place the scope probe to the data output on the IR sensor while pressing a remote funtion. If the date is clean looking and is present then the IR sensor is good. If it is not good or noisy, replace the IR sensor. In the event its there, trace the data signal with the assistance of the schematic diagram, to the microprocessor, through all the jumpers and plugs and componets, like coupling capacitors or resistors, as I have found bad solder connections on the route to the microprocessor. If the same data signal is on the input of the microprocessor remote input, that is on the data output on the IR sensor, then replace the micro. This way of troubleshooting, has in the past, fixed every remote problem I have encountered with a remote intermittant, or no remote operation. Good Luck

My remote control does not work

You could have a defective IR sensor in the tv set that sends the infared signal to the MIcroprocessor IC. These are something you cant just replace, as it needs to be trouble shot with a scope to see if theres a data signal comming out of the sensor and if there is it could be a bad solder connection somewhere between the sensor plug to the Main IC. Also could be the B+ that supplys voltage to the sensor. Unless you have had electronic repoair experience, You should have a pro assist you with this repair. Sorry I couldnt assist you more with this . Good Luck
