I have the same problem. It is random, have tried unplugging from UPS and switching outlets and power cords. Just cuts off, has to be unplugged and plugged back in.

I have the exact same issue. It's most likely a problem caused by overheating the mainboard. My problem only differs in that i received it in this condition.

Gateway gt5678 is hooked up, I turn it on, turn on the screen and it says no display then cuts off what else can I. Do

Does the computer appear to be on still? No display would indicate either a loose monitor cable, a bad monitor or a failed video card. If you can borrow another monitor try it on the computer to see if you get the same result.

Last night I cut my computer off and it froze on the shutting down screen so I held down the power button and it cut off. Now when I cut it on the light on the monitor is orange. It's Gateway 817GM. Help?

1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Hello, I have an HD 2200 Gateway monitor and the problem is the back-light keeps cutting off after about 2 second when powered up. I replaced 3 capacitors by the heat sinks and replace one between the two...

The problem is most likely in the inverter board or the display lamps "less likely" the inverter board is bad for bulging capacitors that open causing the lamps to flicker or go on and off like a lamp switch. The option is to attempt a repair or replace the board "If available"

Gateway fpd2485w lcd shows video then cuts off

I'm pretty sure the inverter board is bad. you have to replace it if you can or you can let someone else do it. you should find some on ebay for about $80 (not too bad compared to the cost of the monitor: over $200). but its up to you. But first, you should find out if you are still under warranty. good luck. please rate!!

Sounds like an inverter problem. If the power supply is internal replace the capacitors coming out of the voltage regulators. These are usually 1000mf and/or 470mf. If that doesn't do the trick look up the numbers on the 8-pin chips that drive the secondary transformers on the inverter to see if they are getting the right voltages.
Good Luck!
