Maytag dishwater WU504 - Problem: the soap dispenser cover does not move. The soap dispenser is two sided with a cover which moves from one side to the other as the machine cycles to release the soap from both sides. The cover no longer moves, and I don't know what is wrong. I would replace the whole soap dispenser, but I am wondering if it is the dispenser or whatever triggers it to move. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

SOURCE: dishwasher soap door repair

Remove door front panel to gain access to rear of dispenser (inside door)...then you have access to some linkages to which the trigger clips. You will see which to unclip. Spring is just clipped into position and dispenser door snapped back in! Good luck! Oshie

SOURCE: Dishwasher soap dispenser sticks

Mine dishwasher (a Maytag) did this also. At first it was becoming stuck because of the soap. My repair guy cleaned it and I switched to liquid soap and it worked great another 2 years then did it again. That time it was just wore out and had to be replaced. I was told it was no longer available but we found it here http://www.repairclinic.com/and our repair guy installed it. He was amazed because he had even called everywhere.

SOURCE: soap dispenser door doesn't open during cycle of my Maytag dishwasher

Kqon, looks like your dispenser has a wax motor. I think the first thing you have to do is remove the inner door and inspect the soap dispensor assy. See if any of the moving parts are broken. This wax motor is 120V so you can run a cheater cord to it to see if it works, but be very careful when doing this. It will expand the plunger and open the flap. If the wax motor operates with 120V applied to it then you want to see if you have power coming from the timer. It will be the tan wire # 27 on the timer harness. You also want to make sure the spring and pin are in place on the dispenser flap. Your part number for the wax motor is 902899. Catriver.

A wax motor controls the opening of the lid. Also a seal that fits around the latch lever may be deteriorating and obstructing the function of the lever. Follow the link below for images and part numbers with cost.

Water and ice cube dispenser working fine, crushed ice not crushing. 26 cuft side by side model MZD266SHES

You have a solenoid switch which switches the dispenser back and forth from crushed to cube. It could be stuck or not working or the parts connecting it could be disconnected or broken. You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid. Crushed ice is the default position and the solenoid is energized to cube ice.
Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.

Soap dispenser lid doesn't open

Hi

Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) Maytag dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't receive 120 volts, then it

Cant open soap drawer on washer

I opened up the top of the washer by unscrewing the screw in the back. then I pressed down hard on the white plastic cover of the soap dispenser that you will see on the front left hand side of the machine. I also moved it slightly to the right by pushing on the side of the same unit.

The soap dispenser then opened up fine. I cleaned out the soap dispenser from any crud that developed in it. Now it opens and closes nicely.

Did you know there is a class action lawsuit against LG for mold that develops inside of this model washer? I joined in the lawsuit. There should be no mold accumulating in any washer.

Maytage dishwasher soap dispenser not operating properly

I have an older (1990) Maytag dishwasher that had the same problem. In my case liquid dish soap had penetrated the seal and dried out causing the rotating cover shaft to freeze up.

Remove the door panel and then disconnect and remove the soap dispenser from the door. Make a diagram of the soap dispenser as you carefully disassemble it; there is a coil spring around the soap door axis. If you find a buildup on the door shaft or in the hole it rotates in or in the groove the door rides in, try removing the residue with a plastic scuffy pad after letting it soak in a lime scale remover (Lime Away) or some other cleaner. I think Jet Dry makes a dishwasher cleaner. Before you reassemble the dispenser, wipe a thin film of plumbers grease (available at Home Depot or Lowes) on the shaft.

If the door is free turning and doesn't appear to be bound up, then the problem may be with a heating element that expands when energized, allowing the door to open to the second soap compartment. An ohmmeter will be needed to test the thermal lock.

These jobs are fairly simple and should need only a Phillips screwdriver and a volt ohmmeter.

Happy Motoring!
