Pixma IP2000 - black lines across bottom of page

I am having trouble with my printer printing black lines across the bottom of the page whenever I print. I have tried to clean parts of the printer but to no avail. Is there a specific place to clean or do I need a new printer?? in black ink, first 5-10 lines are good & readable. then line quality varies for rest of page. have tried cleaning, and deep cleaning. clears up for a few pages, then back to good first few lines, then unreadible with horizontal lines and blanks. complained to ink supplier who said get a new printer. waiting for real canon inks to see if problem is cheap ink. rhn

while you wait for the printers in use the printers own software to realign the cartridges and print a test page

Hello!!

Try printing 2 out of 3 pages in high quality and see wat happens!!

Remove the cartridges from the head and then remove the head where you
will be able to inspect it. Thoroughly clean the bottom of the head and
inspect the "parking sponge" for excess ink. Blot the sponge with
kitchen roll to remove the excess ink. Take a torch or powerful light
and inspect the bottom of the paper feed where the head runs backwards
and forwards, sometimes when using non standard paper etc the head
overshoots and deposits ink which accumulates and leaves streaks on the
    paper mostly on the back.

Clean this area with a damp cloth and the rollers with some alcohol.

Reassemble and charge the head with ink, run a couple of bottom plate cleaner papers and examine for streaks.

Black dotted lines

Does the pitch of the dots look like it could be caused by the pin wheels on the exit of the paper path?

If so it could be that the wheels have got knocked or sagged and are just touching the print as it exits the machine. Try gently prizing them up out of the way.

Smudging

hi i am a certified Canon repair tech on this model. when the waste message comes up this means that the waste absorbers in the bottom of the machine need to be replaced. just clearing the error and not replacing them will cause the waste ink to over fill and backup into the machines printing area smugging the print. there are Canon repair centers privately owned that can replace the waste absorbers and clean the machine. the average cannot take this machine apart into peices to clean it. The waste absorbers are fairly cheap but the labor to do this will vary from shop to shop. hope this helps clarify the problem.
