Dryer turns on but drum will not spin

Sounds like the belt is bad or the motor needs to be replaced. Unplug unit. When you open it up get a block of wood (a piece of 2x4 works) if your units are stacked on top of each other, pull the dryer towards you approx 2inches. You are going to push on the top of the dryer and insert the board underneath the dryer. The reason you pulled the dryer forward was to keep the dryer from slipping backwards while working on it. Now check the two bottom corners on the front of they dryer.occasionally there are screws holding the kick plate. Take these off, pull out and down and look for broken belts. Be sure to vacuum any loose lint while you have the unit open. Good luck.

Replacement igniting replacement

If you can hear motor running, it is possible the belt (from motor to drum) has broken or is slipping. If you cannot hear motor, it is likely an electrical problem; maybe safety start/stop switch in door, or wire connector has vibrated loose, or computer brain failure.

The belt has come off the dryer and I can't figure out the configuration to put it back on, therefore the dryer wont turn

Some of the belts are counterintuitive to reinstall. although there are several different styles there are usually four - five components: Drum, belt, motor pulley and the spring pulley (sometimes there is a also a stationary pulley). Please double check but a lot of dryers have a diagram inside the dryer housing. If not, place the belt around the drum then the stationary pulley (if equipped) then the motor pulley and finally the spring pulley. Try to support the drum loosely if the spring pulley gives you a problem, on some models the motor mounts are adjustable, which you can use to reduce the strain. (You can always adjust it after the drum and pullies are secure) Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Changing dryer belt on kirkland/whirlpool dryer took apart dryer but dont see where belt suppose to mount.

Hello. The belt goes around the tub and the tension pulley. In fact, it is always a good idea to replace both the belt and the idler/tension pulley at the same time. J.

If you want a schematic go to searsdirect.com and enter your model number. J.

My LG dryer does not spin...everything gets hot and works except either it spins VERy slowly or not at all

Open the back to get to the motor and check to see if the belt is loose on the motor pulley. Try to turn the empty drum by hand--does it seem bound up? Turn the motor pulley, does it seem hard to turn? Maybe the motor pulley is loose on the motor shaft. Run the dryer for a short time to watch the action of the drive belt.

My kenmore gas dryer drum doesn't turn

Can you hear the motor running? If so, the drum drive belt has come apart (from the heat) and is lying loose. You will need to release the drum in order to get a new belt over it, then coupled and tensioned at the motor pulley.

Dryer takes three cycles to dry took apart need help put back together

Model #?
If this is a standard dryer with the idler pulley, place the pulley into the slots to the left of the motor pulley. Bring the belt through the idler so it is running on the flat side of the belt and place the belt around the motor. The idler should be placing down pressure on the belt keeping it tight. make sure there are no twists all the way around the drum or it will pop off.

My Kenmore 80 series quit working suddenly after removing a piece

This puppy needs help. You're going to have to take it all apart. Check all roller wheels, find heat resistant grease. Maybe graphite will do. With the belt off, spin the motor by hand, it should roll freely. If not, first feel for worn bearings by trying to move the motor shaft up and down. I've never lubed a dryer motor. Replace it if you can! These motors are very generic, keep your eyes open for replacements by the road if that's your thing. Sure works for me. When re-assembling check the front sliders for damage or misplaced felt, if your unit doesn't have wheels there. The drum should not rub stuff it's not supposed to. Make sure you are putting the belt on right. And of course check the fan area for loose stuff.

Fitting tumble dryer drive belt

Looking from rear of dryer, one spring on motor is for tension, therefore put belt around drum(groove to the drum surface). Then rotate the motor firmly clockwise tensioning the spring, take belt from right of drum over tension wheel then put grooves of belt on shaft of motor.Release motor to tension spring, job done !!!!!
