Xbox cd tray

The main problem might be a big problem with the disk tray. There might be an faulty wire that has lost connection and if your disk wont event turn on, there might be a problem with the power supply that supplies the cd tray. If the disk opens and closes but doesnt read and wont say tray is in and keeps saying open tray, there might be a small fracture on some of the wires or there is something wrong with the motherboard of the xbox 360. The best way is to buy the warrenty now and send it to the xbox 360.

Do you mean the CD tray won't stay closed? If so check the simple things first. The button that you push to open and close the tray is actually a lever that pushes a much smaller button below it. Make sure that your eject button is not stuck down for some reason. Check your cd tray and the bay to make sure nothing got inside that is preventing the cd tray from closing all the way. I believe if something gets in the way the tray will automatically re-open. You can also take some compressed air and blow out the cd tray to remove any debris that may be blocking the tray from closing.
If none of the above simple steps work I believe it boils down to 2 things. 1. An object inside the case or tray that is preventing it from closing all the way or... 2. The eject button is stuck down.
If your comfortable with it you can take apart your xbox case and remove your CD/DVD player and ensure the button works properly. You can do a search on this site or youtube for instructions on how to take the case apart if needed. Once the case is apart the CD/DVD player is easily removed. You will then notice that the switch you press on the outside of the Xbox to open and close the CD/DVD tray is actually a lever that presses a much smaller switch directly on the front of the CD/DVD unit. You can then test your eject switch directly by pressing the button directly with a ball point pen or a pin. If the bay does not open and close properly at this point it may be necessary to replace the CD/DVD player and I do not know if it can be replaced or not. Hope this helps.

sometimes its the cd readers fault inside of it or if the cd is really birdblack scratched

the lens of the disc drive needs a check up...

Its definately an internal problem, just have the people at microsoft repair your console. 

1 dirty lens
2 dirty disc
3 programme error

1 i think the xbox cleans its own lens but check the manual if not get a good lens cleaner.

2 clean the disc always clean your discs after and before you use them.

3 take off your hard drive and any memory cards and reset xbox to factory settings

you must do it manually be careful the CD is most likely stuck if you tried everything then there is no point then so just pull out in force hopfully the CD wont brake thats why i like the PS3 BETTER

either you will need it repaired or u can do it the cheap way and after the disc tray is shut put some tape over it and see if it will read it still. If not it will need to be repaired. It will only cost about $35 or free if you are still under warranty.

Your CD Drive tray needs new alignment. I don't know what to say about your Video Port since it works sometimes.
