By poor color quality, do you mean that if you turn the color control all the way down, the black and white picture is more like black and red, green or blue - or do you have a good black and white image? If the B&W image is good, and the TV is an old (8+ years) one, maybe the mirror inside the set needs a good cleaning - especially if there are smokers in the room. If you have a B&W picture that is tinted, then you may have to go into a service menu to adjust it back to a better picture. Hard to guess the problem without more specific description of symptoms.
It could be localised interference, try different modes. Maybe it is a poor quality connection on a cable? If all else fails www.toshiba.com will get you to the technical team for assistance. You could always take it back for an exchange of course.
If you have got a good aerial, the high gain type- see image, it should run all the TV's you say. Make certain you have decent cable coming off the aerial (the stuff they use for satalite dishes). Then buy some high quality splitters, to feed the TV's. Don't split the cable outdoors!
If the input to a HD tv is not in HD format the tv won't display an image very well. Be sure your input to the tv is compatible with the tv's technology for optimum performance quality Also re-check the input source (such as converter box, dvd player, etc..) and be sure you have the correct input/output ports connected properly. Try to reset all yout tv settings back to manufacturers defult specs. When an input signal is sent to the tv most modern tv's have software built in to select the proper format to display the input image. There may have been a mismatch communication error when your tv software tried to "handshake" with your converter box input signals from its firmware. So try a reset solution and re-connect the tv without the converter and see if that helps. If not e-mail me and I'll determine if the tv needs technical servicing.
This sounds like the digital equivalent of 'snow,' a random noise that can come from poor signal quality or poor or not firmly attached cables.
I'd try exchanging the cable that is now in place from whatever signal source you have (cable/cable box, satellite receiver, etc.) with another either new or temporarily borrowed one from another device.
If this doesn't help, consider the other modern devices you have in your home such as light dimmers, fluorescent bulbs, digital clocks, home theatre equipment, etc.
Pull the plug on any of those, one at a time and observe the TV to see if any of them are affecting it.
Those named items are common sources of high frequency noise that can contribute to the kind of problem you are having. They have gotten better but can still produce unwanted sources of interference signals.
I replaced the screen on my 62 inch projection TV for about $50 and the the picture quality is good! Have a sheet of plexiglass cut to the EXACT size needed. BEFORE installation it MUST be frosted on both sides by either a fine particle sandblaster or by sanding it VERTICALLY on BOTH sides with a power sander and a fine grade paper. If this is only an OUTER protective screen and the image is projected on the inner screen then DO NOT frost the replacement screen, just install it.
You may have a bad flyback transformer (high voltage trans former). The lines you're seeing are retrace lines caused by the picture tube screen set too high. This is often caused by the screen control opening up. This control is part of the flyback.
Picture quality problems (such as lines, fuzzy image, or wrong colors)
Check the cables and connections:
Make sure that cable connections are securely fastened to the connectors and try reaseating the connectors. If connecting a device using component cables, make sure all three color-coded cables are connected correctly into the corresponding connectors.
Check the condition and length of the cables. Cables that are longer than 3 meters (10 feet), become more susceptible to promoting signal degredation (small dots "sparkling" on the screen and image ghosting). Cables that have been bent or pinched may also cause picture quality problems. Replace the cable or try a different cable type.
Check the display issue with a different channel. Picture quality problems on a single channel or on all channels may be caused by the TV station signal (antenna) or the cable signal source.
Make sure that the image quality issue is not coming from your source signal.
For example: if the image quality issues occur while viewing TV , switch the source to a DVD player to see if the image quality problems go away.
If selecting a different input source (using the remote control) causes the problem to go away, troubleshoot the source device causing the problem - adjust aerial antennas, call the cable company for assistance, and .
If a picture quality problem occurs on all sources, the TV or its settings may be the cause of the problem.
Higher resolution TVs will make it much easier to view signal problems coming from source signals - especially TV signals. For example, if your TV cable company experiences heavy load on their system, you may be able to detect small miscolored squares that briefly scatter across the screen (macro-blocking). On a smaller standard TV, this type of quality problem is much less noticeable on a standard TV, but can become very annoying when viewed with greater detail.
Try to Reset the TV ( LCD) quality options. Please look in to User Guide to make the TV to factory Defaults..
Unplug the TV from its power source. With the power cord unplugged, press and hold the power button for five seconds. Turn on the TV . If the image quality problems still exists across all types of signal sources, the TV should be serviced.
