I erased the hard drive on my shr 1040 and when I try to record I get a "no viedo" message. I am only connected to a monitor, nothing else so I don't need video but it won't record.

Sir,

Check the video output mode. If DVR is set to CVBS mode, u can't see the image on VGA monitor. Mode changing by hidden key: Mode Key + CH 1
Refer to 6-12 point, 6-13 point of user manual...

For Manual

Thanks
Good Luck

A ) Connect  directly to the sansung dvr.
B) Have your video source playing before you launch WinDVD Creator.
C ) Once WinDVD is running, if you get the error message "Please verify the video source is connected", click OK.
D) Click on the Settings Icon (small wrench) in the Capture window.
E) Select the Device Control Tab.
F) If you are using a composite video cable, set the Video Source to Composite. If you're using an S-Video cable, set Video Source to S-Video.

Check the cables at the back, let me know if the system is playing

I don't think this has anything to do with erasing hard drive.

Just check all cables, both on recorder and on camera side.

Check the DVR input settings, try browsing channels until you can see the video.

Hi I have a floureon cctv system which is set on continual record yet it keeps stoping could this be an issue with my hard drive?

check out your operators manual first and find the storage capacity of the hard drive
if it is on continuous record then at some point the hard drive will be full and will no longer record
when it stops it may be at a point where it is self erasing ready for a new period of recording ( similar to a dash cam where every so often it self cleans so that more data can be stored
if the system has an movement or light sensor it might be best to consider that to increase the recording time
If none of this is the case then you may have to get a technician in to diagnose the fault properly

I have a H show up and blinking why?

The hard drive which saves/stores the recorded video is either full or it has died. Try deleting some of the older saved video to gain more space. If that doesn't work you may need to replace the hard drive.

I have a 4 channel Sunluxy H.264 Network DVR, I have fitted a 300gb HDD but although the system is working and I get the 4 cameras on screen the message I keep getting on boot up is HDD not found

Guys this one stumped me for some time, here is my solution that worked like a dream

1. plug the hard drive you are using into a pc and check the hard drive is recognise and works.
2. Delete all partitions
3. ensure it has a 8 bit cache buffer!! This is the most important one. That means the system only supports older hard drives. I got 2 second hand ones from the local pc store for $50. See the list of hard drives that are know to work below.

MANUFACTURER MODEL CAPACITY ROTATION
ST3320613AS 320GB 7200 rpm
ST33500320AS 500GB 7200 rpm
ST3750330AS 750GB 7200 rpm

WD5000AACS 500GB 7200 rpm
WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 rpm

HITACHI HDT725032VLA360 320GB 7200 rpm
HDS721010KLA330 1000GB 7200 rpm

FYI for some reason the person I bought this off online "Ebay" had no idea how to support and I could not get support from their web site as they email they give just bounces back.

Cheers.

Trouble with my recorder on screen display show HDD Fail and when we try to play is blank what we must to do.thank you regard riyanto

The hard drive for the recorder is bad. That's why nothing plays during playback. The DVR can't get the video off the hard drive. You'll need to send the recorder in to be repaired and the hard drive replaced.

Disk is full. Can not reset and erase the disk.

Hi !!
From your post Its not clear that either you are talking about Hard disk or Compaq disk. If its Compaq disc ( CD ) make sure its Rewriteable or if its hard drive make sure  nirtual memory is not allocated to that part and also no application or software is running.
Thanks Irfan

The video machine bleeps continually and shows a message E-3

I think the E3 error code indicates an error with the tape drive mechanism. If it ate a tape, this would indeed be the problem. Time Lapse VCR's are not very popular anymore, everything has gone to digital. It would most likely cost you more to fix that VCR than to switch out to a digital recorder.

Other advantages are -

No tape to change
Very good recorded image quality compared to VCR
Most digital units have capability for remote viewing over the internet
You can set the unit to "alert" you if there is movement in the garden

COPYING IMAGE FROM DVR TO MEMORY STICK

I got a phone call from GVI. Here's the scoop:

The SSCDVR only supports up to a 128MB memory stick. This was the highest capacity available when the SSCDVR was manufactured.

Further, the memory stick must have the standard Sony interface. This isn't to say that it has to be a Sony, just that it has to have that standard. Lexar and ?Magicgate? are other possibilities.

I don't think anything that says "duo" or "pro" and comes with an adapter sleeve will work. It has to be the "old", full-size stick.

GVI tech support says that the stick will hold 2-6 minutes of video in an encrypted format. It will save as an executable that can be viewed on your computer. If you need more than the number of minutes that the memory stick can hold, you need to sneakernet the card to your computer, copy the file there, then take the stick back to your DVR, erase the stick there, and load on the next batch. Repeat until you have all the data you need.

As a workaround, I use a VCR or DVD burner to back off audio and video. I plug an S-vid cable from the back of the svid-out of the DVR to the s-vid in on the video device. I run an RCA cable from the audio out on the DVR to one of the audio ins on the video device. (I lost my mono to stereo RCA cable, but it seems to work fine this way anyhow.)

Then you just get the DVR to the right place for the event you want to back up, hit record on your video device, and you are good to go!

Recording

I have the same problem. I believe this unit is a lemon by Samsung. I was so exhausted I went to Hard drive erase. After I erased the HD, now it will not record or go into recode mode. I think all it good for now is just to view the monitor. When I call Samsung they dont have a clue what a DVR is. I never seen a company so illerate. They cant even tell me where I can send it for repair.

SHR-1040 - rewind from end of footage??

I'm wondering if the firmware can be upgraded as that might be the easiest thing. My other thought was that putting the hard drive into a PC and trying to view the video might be a way to see it.
