Question about HP PSC 1610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Can't clear ''remove and check color cartridge''

All of a sudden, my HP PSC 1610 printer has a "remove and check color cartridge" message.  I've taken both cartridges out several times and turned printer off, but message is not cleared.  What's the soln?

you can try to remove and clean the chip contacts of the cartridge and or the cartridge housing. if it still doesnt work try resetting the printer ink counter.

Sounds like your black cartridge is empty and the printer is defaulting to your color cartridge. Check ink level in black cartridge by using the troubleshooting instructions that came with your printer. If you don't have a manual on your computer you can try finding the instructions by accessing the manufacturer's website. Good luck!

HP PSC 1610. Error message : Remove and check color cartridge. I have done this, cleaned the printer, nothing has worked. I can not even print in black and white.


Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

Remove and check color cartridges


Checking the print cartridges and cleaning the cartridge contacts. Go to this link from HP and do everything for your 1610 till you get to the bottom of the page:

HP 1610 all in one printer lost power


I'm assuming you've made sure the power cord didn't fall out. It could be possible that the ribbon cable to the head assembly is damaged or pulled loose. This would explain the first message of the "right cartridge needs adjusting". Check both ends to see if it's come loose and check the whole ribbon for damage. Also, do a full reset of all cables. (power, usb etc.)
