1999 Blazer is not starting, very loud clicking noise

I tried to start my car this morning and all I got was a loud clicking noise, my lights still turn on, I am wondering if this would be my starter? I have been having problems lately, is used to sound as if it was not getting gas, and would take a little while to start but now it won't start at all.

Thanks for your help

You need a new and /or known to be fully charged battery to start with also make sure your alternator is charging very well (not just barely poking along ) also make sure that the auto light sensor is not coverd with dust or anyhting else ( keep crud and **** away from the dash area above the audio center this can cause the system to turn on even with the key off.

Cannot start loud fast clicking noise

Clicking noise would indicate starter solenoid faulty! This would also be the case if battery low but since you have a new battery you can look at the starter solenoid!

My 1999 Lexus ES300 wouldn't start this morning. There's no sound when trying to turn over...no clicking are anything. When I listen under the hood there's a slight click in the alternator

Hi Susie, Turn on the head lights and get someone to observe them while trying to start. If they dim during trying to start, replace the battery. Regards John

I HAVE A 1993 TOYOTA TERCEL THE CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD CLICKING SOUND WHEN I STARTED IT AND IT WOULD MAKE THE NOISE IN PARK AND NEUTRUAL WHEN PUT IN GEAR IT WOULD GET A BIT LOUDER ON ICSALERATION IT DID...

Sounds like the starter need to be replace or rebuilt.
The clicking is due to the starter still partially engaged. Grooves are worn on the contactors and the plunger is sticking in the starter.

Started my mazda 6 this morning. Was a little sluggish but started. Went out 10 minutes later to move it and it wont start. Only clicking noise when trying to start

battery is dead. possibly the alternator isn't charging too. once the car is running if the battery light is on the alternator needs to be changed. if that's the case stick with a mazda part not a rebuilt.
