hi i too had that problem, when an engineer looked at it the thermostat, element were ok,he suggested that there was a blockage in the air flow,i took the whole thing apart ( i had nothing to lose ) cleaned it with a hoover very carefully then with a clean dry paintbrush, there is vents underneath the dryer if these get blocked the dryer blows cold air, its a saftey measure so that the fluff dosent catch fire ! i hope this helps, mine has run ok for 3 months now.

I also have to say that the handbook instructions for cleaning the lint filter are inadequate. Whils it easy to run water through the sides, and straight forward to clean the rear vents with a small srewdiver or similar it is not easy to even see any blockage at the front grill due the front plate blocking your view. I did however have a scrape at the front vents with a right angled soldering scraper. To my astonishment EVERY vent was blocked solid with ancient lint. I removed about a half pound of the stuff from the front alone! I have now decided to make this thorough cleaning of the filter a monthly event.

- EUREKA !!!

Thoroughly cleaning the front vents of filter has worked! I now have normal heat. As I said in solution 2 above the front of the filter needs special attention. The top three openings can be cleaned with a small screwdriver or similar, but the bottom four need something narrow with a right angle to scrape them clean. I used a right angled soldering scraper (a set of six double ended soldering scrapers are available for about £4.99 from Maplin Electronics), but I suppose a bit of stout wire bent to a suitable shape will do just as well.
