You need the driver for the video. The default driver will just do minimum resolution.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

How do i alter the setting that turns my monitor off after 5mins if i leave the room or have not pressed a key etc etc

Hi. If you are using Windows XP (most common OS right now), right-click on any empty space on your desktop and select "Properties" then click "Screen Saver" tab, click "Power" button, "Power Schemes" will pop-up, on "Turn off monitor" option, increase the time or select "Never" from drop-down list to set your monitor to always on.

If you are not using XP, settings are the same for most Windows OS, just different ways to access display properties. So if you manage to open display properties, you can navigate to power options and change your power settings.

The screen on my monitor is too large to be seen. How can I change it?

For best picture, you need to set your PC video resolution to 1280x1024, 60Hz
Right click on desk top to bring up the display properties, select Setting tab to set the resolution, make sure you do have correct video card driver installed in your PC otherwise you may not be able to set the resolution you want.

Monitor nor driver acknowledged

If you just want to adjust the display settings so that they are more to your liking go to Control Panel and open Display. When the Display Properties box opens click on the settings tab. Use the slider bar in Screen Resolution to adjust to 1024x768 or whatever resolution your monitor displays best at. To the right use the pull down arrow to select the highest color quality you can select. Then click on the Advanced button on the bottom left and you should see a Monitor tab. Click on that and ensure your refresh rate is 60 Hertz. Save your settings, accept the change confirmation when it appears and your monitor should be good to go. I have about 90 Dell LCDs and the default Windows drivers for the LCDs usually work great.
