Question about Canon i9900 InkJet Photo Printer
As the paper enters the print area and begins to align, the paper shifts up on the right (looking at the printer) only about 1/16 of an inch. It seems the wheel alignment is off but looking at the wheels they appear clean. I had a technician tell me it was the metal bar and charged me $85 to replace what was obviously not the problem. Any suggestions. I love this printer and don't want to find a new one.
Try using some rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip on the rubber rollers and see if there is any fine dust or crud on them. They could be dirty and one side has better traction than the other. Otherwise I'd have to say it IS an alignment problem. A screw may have come loose. Hopefully it wasn't dropped or slammed. Good luck.

Open the cover over the print head and *carefully* inspect the clear thin plastic strip that runs from left to right near the print head. If you see any lubricant (white grease) on this encoder strip, it needs to be cleaned off.
1. With the cover open and the print head in the center, unplug the power cord. This will allow you to gently move the print head left or right.
2. With a cotton swab wetted with rubbing alcohol, *gently* wipe the grease spots from the encoder strip. (Be VERY CAREFUL you don't dislodge the strip.) You may need to move the print head to the left or right to get all areas cleaned.
3. Let the alcohol dry off completely. With the area clear of cleaning tools, debris, and fingers, plug the power back in.
4. Try a test print.
