Question about VisionTek RADEON HD 3870 X2 Video Card - 1GB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, CrossFireX Ready, (Dual Link) D Graphic Card

Can't get my dual graphics cards to work

I can't get my new computer running 2 x 512MB Visiontek Radeon HD 4850 GDDR3 in CrossFire™ to work properly. My acid test for graphics cards is still trying to run Quake4. I tried it at "High" setting and it starts fine but eventually crashes about a minute into the intro movie. I get a dialog box saying that something called "VPU recovery" has changed my accelerator settings to keep my computer from crashing. That's great, except it then keeps happening at regular intervals, making for a poor gaming experience. Is there something I'm doing wrong with this new setup?
I also tried running the game in medium and low quality settings....same result.
My understanding when I bought this compuiter (from reviesws) was that it should be good enough to play gam,es as demanding as Crysis, but I can't even get old Quake 4 running. Any idea what might be up?

1. Turn all of your 3D settings to 4x.
2. Go to BIOS and turn your AGP aperture size to 256 MB
3. Increase the virtual memory size to the double of the physical system memory (set it to 1024 MB in case of 512 MB system memory, Control Panel \ System \ Advanced \ Performance - Settings \ Advanced \ Virtual Memory - Change, select the hard drive, choose Custom, and enter into both fields 1024, then Set, OK and reboot)
4. Lower the hardware acceleration in Windows with one stop (Control Panel \ Display \ Settings \ Advanced \ Troubleshoot \ Hardware Acceleration).

If you still not be able to fix it, I suggest you to go to this site http://www.foxpop.com/imre/2005/vpurecover/vpurecover.html
Yuo might want to use ATI's driver too.

My HD 4850 fan is not spinning correctly. It will spin normally for a few moments, then make a cranking noise, then start moving extremely slowly, and sometimes it even stops. Now it is not even spinning,...

Your heatsink fan on the graphic card is failing and the motor is going down hill, now saying it has completly stopped..,.. that means the fan motor is done for and need to be replaced to avoid further damage to your graphic card. Would reccommend you not using your graphic card until a new heatsink fan is replaced otherwise you can fry your GPU and suffer a complete loss.

run at least 2.5 gig of memory. You can get them cheap on ebay. Processor should be duo core or equivelant. Single processors work, but do lag. Graphics cards are not actually as important as people think. You can use a stock graphics card with good processor and 2-4 gig of memory and have a good gaming computer.

Gforce 8500 not responding in middle of some games

try a new driver or new gta patch. Really though, you need a new graphics card. the 8500 is a budget low end card. get a Nvidia 9800gtx/ gtx 260 or Ati 4850/4870 to game! Make sure you have a good dual core cpu also.

Graphic card temp

In my experience, higher-end cards are in their prime when between 40C - 60C. Anything higher and you should consider adding some more fans to the case and perhaps a ventilator below the video card to blow air toward the GPU.

Let me know if I can help you further.

ATI Radeon HD4850 512MB GDDR3 with

you have to go into control panel hardware and sound, now click on sound, you will see speakers with a green check next to it. on top you will see HDMI enable those and hit test button. this is part of device no worry bout bios or motherboard. Just make sure you use the adapter that came with the video card it will only work with the supplied adapter. Not a dvi to hdmi cable. this will work. i hope this helps and good luck. I can coach you more but i am not sure of your operating system. i was coaching you using vista.

2 pin power conection for my Radeon HD 2400 pro video card

To smithbrother, it says AGP, there is no such thing as crossfire for AGP.

The card uses a jumper line, its a 2 pin, its for the fan,
tiny little jumper.

I think you should connect the company, I don't think anyone has the little 2 pin connector/jumper for the fan.
